this was at the time of the initial announcement
i recall reading its dx10 hardware only which would be a shame as i wouldnt mind keeping my gto2 for something useful
it might be that dx10 will need to be installed but dx9 hardware can be used
it would be pure marketing if they did given the demos on dx9 cards
Crossfire is not mature yet and still has issues with some games (Nvidia SLI has some issues too). With the extra PSU requirements, potential cooling problems as well I'd be tempted to stick to 1 card.
Intel i5 2500k @ stock
Thermalright SI-128 (Bolt-through)
Asus P8Z68V/Gen3
2x8Gb DDR3
ASUS GTX 670 DirectCU II 2Gb
Bah final opinions here guys, what do i need for bf2142 to run smoothly at max settings on 1920X1200 resolution???
Do i need the x1950xt or just x1950 pro? (i dont want to go crossfire now)
If you read the quote i say x1950xt not x1950 pro.
Scan stock the x1950xt atm, hopefully the x1950 pros soon.
Yes they have ^^
Its been out since september
The x1950 pro <---x1950 PRO (not XT) Is an upgrade from the x1900gt, which is meant to be about as fast as an x1900XT
The x1950 pro is the one out this friday and i have seen it in some online shops,
To preorder.
Im not scan so i dont know if they will stock it or not. Hopefully they will. But its not there ATM.
Hopefully the His Turbo iceq3 x1950 pro, will do me till a good dx10 card comes out.

That is the x1950xt, that is going for £300ish, the x1950 pro however is going for around £150 (that is the one out friday ^^)
And apprently since x1950 pro performance is simliar to that of x1900xt, and x1950xt isnt that much better only faster... Heres hoping this will b a real but-kicker
I think you've got the link wrong - it's pointing to the x1950xtx, not x1950xt
I belive they are one of the same
It isn't the technologies at fault. Its mainly the games developers who are using non-standard programming techniques that mess with SLi and Crossfire.
First hand knowledge of both CF and SLI here (SLI 7800GT in one rig, CF 1950 in another) and so far CF has been a lot more forgiving, showing gains in games that SLI has had to be disabled for.
On the flip-side, the CF drivers have been a PITA to install each time.....I now know exactly the steps I need to take to get them installed but a novice to PCs would never get CF up and running IMO, unless they got seriously lucky.
Hopefully the 6.10 Catalyst will address it but currently I need to check PCI-E bus and device IDs to figure out which card is master and which is slave and then manually force the relavent driver installs. I have also had issues with my Logitech harmony remote programming software stopping CF from enabling on boot-up due to it holding some DirectX component open. Had to disable the Logitech software from loading on Windows startup to resolve the issue. Man, I hate the Catalyst control centre

Differences in graphics card postfixes are actually very important - the addition of a letter or two can make a huge difference to the type of card you are getting.
The X1900XT is different from the X1900XTX for example (though not a huge difference, they are seperate cards).
In this case, the X1950XTX was released a while ago, though they've held back on releasing the X1950XT until now. I'm speculating here that it will be quite a big difference.

I already knew about x1900 etc.
But i saw some websites call it x1950xt n some x1950xtx with same specs, so i assumed they were just releasing one
But mainly because it has the same core clock as the x1900xtx,
I carnt imagine a x1950xt would be that much cheaper either... but wouldnt mind looking into one, thanks for info
