    PSU size

Just a little thing that has been bugging me:

I was under the false impression that PSUs generally came in a standard size but it seems this is not the case. I have an Akassa Eclipse 62 and a 600W silverstone PSU and the hole for the PSU in the eclipse is about an inch wider than the PSU so it leaves a gap.

Ive used 2 screws to attach one end of the PSU but its not particuarly solid as the other side is not screwed to anything. I was thinking of putting a metal plate of some sort to bridge the gap but its not great for the lovely aesthetics of my eclipse. Anyone else ever had this problem?

One screw of my XClio PSU doesn't line up with the hole in the centurion case, but the other three do (ie, it's a fault with the case).

Otherwise, no, I've not heard of that except where the case/psu is custom made for a particular purpose.

I think there is supposed to be a plate there which you screw onto the PSU and then screw the plate onto the Case. Something like that if I remember rightly.

I'm also surprise to hear that you have a gap as I thought the width of the PSUs were standard.

Is the Eclise wide or the Silverstone narrow? (compared to other kit)

Its a pretty popular case so I think its the Silverstone PSU which is a non standard size. I had a different PSU in the case before and it fitted fine. Here is my PSU:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=282260

There is no mention of it being slimmer than other power supplies so im confused.

A plate supplied with the PSU? I dont remember seeing one in the box at all althought I would need to double check that.

I deffinately dont remember getting one of those with my Eclipse. What confuses me though is that my last PSU (a 750W XClio) fitted fine without having to use any metal plate.

I'm confused as well becuase I have the Eclipse and there is a metal plate where the psu fits and I've used 2/3 psus without any issues

Do you think that when I took out my old PSU I could have unscrewed the plate accidentally instead of just the PSU? I think I would notice something like this but maybe not.

Really hope not because I RMAd that faulty XClio (along with the plate perhaps) back to SCAN.

Perhaps, try contacting SCAN i doubt they would know if they have the plate..
Remember that the Eclipse 62 is wider than most other cases.

crap, the plate is missing I just checked. I cant believe I was so stupid as to unscrew it from the case instead of unscrewing the PSU from the plate. I need to do some begging with Scan or Akassa now. Doh.

I would try Akasa first - see how their service is?

    Spot on!
Its not the PSU its the plate for the case.

There are a few cases though that do not line up correctly regardless of the plate.

Emailed Akasa and asked if they could post a replacement out to me. I offered to pay so I hope they wont decline my request.
