    Headphones?

Need some a advice on some decent headphones. Will be used for gaming, as well as listening to music, and watching DvD's on my PC. I have a X-Fi Plat, and Creative 5300 speakers.

I also want them to be comfortable, and i don't want to be the foam type around the ear.

    Thanks. Budget 50-100.

I've got some Sennheiser HD-575's and they're great. Very good sound quality in my opinion, and also very, very compfy. They're about 3 years old, so there might be a newer set out now, but should be something similar. They cost £80.

I can heartily recommend my Speedlink Medusa 5.1s, full surround in a headset!!! They work great are incredibly comfy bu they are the foam type. They ecen come with their own amp and a pass through for your normal speakers. The positional sound is great for gaming and the mic. is awesome.

Although the Medusa speedlink are good for games, Movies etc. They arn't so great for music so it'll be your best bet to go with Senheisers people are recommending if you listen to a lot of music

Another vote for the sennheiser's, i have RS130's or something like that, they're wireless and deffinately worth the money. They aren't really gaming headphones, but they work well all the same and they are fantastic for listening to music. The only slight issues i've noticed is that when there is no sound coming through the headphones there is some low level back ground noise, and you can't move around too much as you get interferance, both i'm guessing are caused by the fact that the sound is transmitted to the headset via rf. Neither of these in anyway put me off, and these are probably, if not the best, one of the best parts of my system

Had a look around, and i don't need wireless, so no point in them. I like the look of the HD series, im looking at the 555, scan sell it for 71quid, what you guys think.

I got a set of SpeedLink Medusa SL-8790 5.1 Surround Headset. playing games is just so good it's creepy, you'll find yourself looking over your sholder with rockets flying by.. Music is crystal clear, the only quirk with them is the amplifier is subceptable to EMI, so mobile phones, & wlans will generate a lot of noise, however the new version "SpeedLink Medusa SL-8796 5.1 Home Edition + 5.1 Amplifier" doesn't suffer the same problem afiak.. My friend got sennheiser headphones and they don't even come close to these bad boys. And they're so comfortable i could wear them all day long and still not have sore ears.

Don't know the model, they cost about £250, his dad bought them, and there was a loose wire, so he pinched them and fixed the wire.. they work fine (well not anymore, they got killed by lugage in the airport), but they're still nowhere near as good as my SpeedLink 5.1 headphones.. reviews are still personal opinion/bias things.

I second the SpeedLink 5.1 Medusa's my friend got them and plugged them into his X-Fi and wow, seriously i was darting around when i nearly got shot in the head. Surround sound on them is amazing and helps you own harder, i also cant see any bad sound in music playing either.

Heres my experience today of the Medusa 5.1 surround sound headphones.

I have been playing games (mainly BF2) and listening to music with Sennheiser PC150s for a couple of years, unfortunately the mike broke so I bought the Medusa 5.1 surround headset as a replacement.

Medusa's were delivered this afternoon and are already back in the box.

    - 5.1 yes, and its very cool in game
    - Mike is excellent
    - Sound is not evenly remotely as good as a decent set of Sennheisers, depth of bass and quality of reproduction. I noticed the difference within 2 seconds.

I have plugged my Sennheisers back into my X-fi extreme, with CMSS3D they sound amazing anyway. With the Medusas I tried changing all the settings / configuration, they are just not capable of the same quality sound.

The Medusa are being returned and I'm going to repair my current phones.

To those who dispute this, make sure you're not comparing the sound with a set of cheap sennheisers, their range starts at pretty low prices.
