The one thing I really regret when buying my budget system was the noise from all the rubbish fans bundled into the case, graphics card etc. Now I'm on the verge of rebuying all the bits that are making the noise to silence it down a bit. I regret not spending the extra £30 in the first place. The fan on the window like the case has that you've chosen is a real culprit. I'd suggest getting an Antec case if you don't mind the styling being a little more subdued.

If you can afford Conroe then go for that.

They leave ANY AMD chip for dead and tbph...buying AMD now is a waste of cash!

Why were you going with PC2700 RAM in the original - you should go for PC3200.

I recommend you try reading some self build articles first then - it will save you a lot of grief in the long run.

    Hey,

If I were looking to spend circa £500 on a pc I'd save another £99 and buy this beauty.

    http://www.gladiatorcomputers.com/Pr...nk=BestSellers

It offers absolutely INCREDIBLE value for money, you couldnt build an equal system for that price and they save you the hassle of doing so. Add on a tenner for a mouse and kb and you're laughing.

Don't know if you still want to self-build but if you do you might want to change your memory to ddr2.

Dunno about Hexus, but a quick google found this:

    http://www.buildyourown.org.uk/pc-building/

Google is your friend - use it to download motherboard manuals & so on before you buy anything. This will save you from buying parts that don't work together.
