    PSU problem

ok in the morning after turning my pc off for the night at the wall it refuses to boot. i turn it on at the wall and press the power button and nothing ..... ive check all the connectors uses a different switch and everything i can think of. im using a Hyper TYPE-R 580W PSU the hardware plugged into it including fans and everything is
    ABIT kn8 mobo w/ AMD 64 'Venice' 3500+ running @ 2.2 ghz
    1 gb of scan value ram *(2 x 512mb)
    ATI Radeon x1600 Pro
    Gigabyte rocket cpu cooler thing
    2 x sata hdds
    DVD-RW drive
    Floppy Drive
    2 x 120mm fans

other than that the external items connected include

    Logitech g5
Saitek Gaming keyboard + botton pad

Connected via a 4 port usb hub ( usb powered )
    TDK Bluetooth adapter
    ATI remote thing
    Webcam
    USB speakers

    think thats about it....

i dont see how that can drain the psu to the point where it cannot turn on. i've tried removing the graphics card it worked the first time but the second time it didnt. i have not problem once the pc is on and if i dont turn it off at the wall its fine... so wats wrong

    Hello

Have you checked the power on button is not sticking, you can bi-pass the switch by just quickly jumping/touching the contacts on the motherboard with a screw driver (btw don't try this if you if you don't know anything about computers as poking a screw driver around the motherboard can cause damage).

Other than a wild guess that the PSU now can't handle the initial surge of amps for the computer, it looks like you are going to have to disconnect everything to basic mode, and add components one by one.

switch is ok tried 2 of them and the contact trick. ive removed EVERYTHING i can except the cables that go directly to the motherboard i aslo revmoed all the cards and all the connection on the back. i think it might be the psu has gone faulty because i just tried connection ps_on (green cable) top a common (black cable) and it didnt start the psu. that was with nothign connnected to the psu at all other than the atx block thing. do you think my assumptions are correct

You've seemed to have done all the logical tests and I assume you are posting from XXXXX as you could use that PSU to check your system, so unless you can borrow a PSU it's gonna cost you about £10 for a new cheapy PSU for testing.

I've had problems with PSUs over the years, but they can't compete with one of the deadliest components in a computer i.e. the graphics card...if they go wrong, and you are unlucky, they can blow the PCI/agp circuit and a PSU.
