PSU question

I have a friend in Germany who has a Medion pre built PC. She complained it was making a very weird loud noise but didn't know what it was, so while I was over there last week I checked and it seems to be the PSU. She has no spare PSUs there, but I'm going back at the end of Jan and want to take my old unbranded (but working) PSU to test if it is that.

Thing is, is it safe to use my UK PSU on her German PC? I guess I would just use her PSU cable since mine has a UK plug head on it. Just wondering if they are made differently due to the different power coming through the mains over there.

Anyone know if it's safe?

I just done a google and it tells me power in Germany is 220-240V/50Hz same as the uk, so you should be ok.

Wow i never knew that! I was always under the impression that it was different on the continent :-S

Used this Wiki page Here another thing to note is that when I got my HP and Samsung monitors they came with UK and European plugs in the box so volts must be the same, aren't most newer psu's auto sensing for volts nowadays.

it's European law that they have to auto change between USA power and EU power, and I believe that power across europe is all the same.

i believe that the voltages are the same, as when i lived in Germany (albeit 20 years ago) all we did was change the plugs from 3pinuk to the 2pineuro and they worked fine, although i don't remember if there was an earthing point in the plug housing so either tape it up or chop it off............just check first.
