first self-build in ages - advice needed please!

    Hi

My old desktop is no more and I'm keen to build a new one. However, the last time I did that was about 6 years ago! Anyway, I've been reading up and have put together the following spec:

    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 £191.92
    MOBO: Asus P5B Deluxe £111.05
    RAM: Geil 2GB PC6400C4 800MHz GX22GB6400UDC £117.49
    Case: Akasa Mirage 62 £98.69
CPU cooler: Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro £16.44
    Case fans: Akasa AK183-L2B £7.12 (x2)
    Graphics: BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-E) £193.86
DVD-RW optical drive: Samsung SH-W183 18x18 DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) £23.49
CPU paste: Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound £7.04
    HDD: Barracuda 7200.10 320GB SATA 7200RPM £57.19
PSU: Akasa Ultra Quiet 650W PowerPlus Active PFC ATX2.0 PSU - Black Nickel £88.11
    Monitor: suggestions? Anything 1680x1050 (£200?)

    Total £1120

As you might have guessed, I'm UK based. I'm looking for a system that will be good for gaming (e.g. HL2, counterstrike, etc), good for handling LARGE databases, (very!) quiet and with some OC potential (bit of a noob here at present). It'll be running XP for another year or so but I will be moving on to Vista after that.

Can anyone advise whether this is a good spec? And are there ways of making it cheaper - I'd like to get it under £1000 but I don't want to risk getting anything that will be redundant in a couple of years (this one needs to last like my old desktop!). And any suggestions for a suitable monitor - there's too many to choose from!

    Thanks in advance.

Realised you wanna get it below £100.
Ok get a E6300/E4300 instead of the E6600 that will knock a few pounds off.
Apart from that its a good choice.

Monitor wise i would say something from Samsung, Dell?
Ive got a 22" Belinea from OcUk and its a treat.

One thing i would like to mention is that the 320mb version of the 8800gts may not handle gaming at native res with all options cranked up as well as u might like. I think this may become apparent when DX10 is released into the world properly.

Yes ,thats a good spec. The antec nine hundred is also a good case at about 65 see today only 'Scan' also as the guys have said drop down to a E 6300/E4300 save you about 80 quid but depends on what your doing as E6600 has exta cache mem.
