Pls Help me set up this Geforce 6800

cos right now, it looks like cack in IL-2

the water effects are dire....it must be cos I've fiddled with the Config file for my Radeon.

Have tried using the Il2 Setup thingy, and chosen Highest Geforce setting but to no avail.

What do I do with the config now? Have tried Water at 0 and 1 so far....

Also the Resolution will only go to 1024x768 in Il2 now, where the Radeon 9800 Pro wentup to 1280x960 which is what I played on.

So far....not impressed in Il2 at all

the sea looks like ...hell I can see the gradients between colours instead of it all merging..lets not even TALK about getting it to look all bumpy like on a Rad9800 Pro

Choose your graphics providor as OGL and on the video tab choose 'maximum settings'. Other than that, use Driver Cleaner 3 to make sure you've removed any vestiges of radeon drivers.

ok a little jpeg compression but minimal.....

Driver Clean? ATI had a pretty good un install on the ones I had on this PC...it was in add remove programs, and it was gone in one click....you think there are some left?

If so do I add remove THESE as well and then re install the drivers after a full clean up?

Remeber the car may well be uber, but if the drivers aren't right for the game then don't bother trying.... - just how ATI couldn't get the water right in this game for ages, maybe Nvidia could do with some work on their new drivers...

have been fiddling and the drivers are all fine and the ATI ones are out..its just they're no good for IL-2.

Wish I could show you but its a "miving" thing. Everthing is pixelated (very minimaly) when stuff flies by, and the Anti Aliasing is no where NEAR as good as a Radeon

I am SO pleased I aint sold my 9800 Pro..this card is probably fantastic in first person stuff, but its a big step backwards at the mo on IL2

Out of interest how does it compare to the 9800pro's perf in other games?

In Far Cry and in Medal Of Honour it massacres it. Funnily the colour BLUE and GREEN are just exceptional on it. Radeons like RED more.

Either way, its a damn good card...if anyone builds someone a PC you'd be hard pushed to better this card. They sellfor £205 inc vat in some places, and I iant overclocked it..and it has the same heat sink as the faster card.

However for Il-2 the drivers suck

Hardware shaders m8 copy and paste that little lot into your conf.ini file and I reckon Robert will be your daddy's brother

nope..still looks cack...it has a kind of "layer" over the top of the sea . At first I thought it was the glass canopy of the air craft, so I went external and its STILL there.

Fact: this card does not like IL-2

Looks like I need an X800

il2 runs beautifully on this machine, wait till pacific fighters or something like that comes out

Have you had a look at other peoples experiences in places like SimHQ's Il2 FB forum?
