No, actually, I really want to write an isometric side-scrolling RPG/beat-em-up with LAN/internet multiplayer. Might be time to dust off those old Java books

Hmmm, getting back on topic, it occurs that it'd be worth looking at all the various free-to-play MMORPGs. I had a bit of a run on Drakensang Online which is good fun and quite Diablo 2-esque. You can buddy and team with your friends, and completely ignore everyone else (apart from the occasions when you will feel the need to shout "kill-stealing <expletive> [wizard|ranger]!").

I recommend Guild Wars 2; but prepare to spend a heck of a lot of time playing. Excellent all around for single player or co-op.

One i didn't see on here is Titan Quest and the expansion Immoral Throne by THQ it's kinda like Diablo 2 but in 3D almost like torchlight. In my own opinion it was how Diablo 3 "should" of been.

Trine and Trine 2 are excellent pc coop games, with the benefit of being local MP too.

I tried trine 2 but it seemed a bit pointless.... Unless it gets better when you can play as multiple players

Portal 2 is a great bit of fun. Just make sure that your friend is not easily confused.

Re: Suggestions for good co-op PC games...?

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. Not a bad game at all though we had to start over as my mate messed up his steam cloud sync which kinda killed the mood a bit -_-

Lost Planet 2. The story is kinda stupid as it jumps between characters and locations with little to no explanation, but it can be good fun to have a Starship Troopers style blast nonetheless. It is fine on 2 players but if you really want to complete the hardest difficulty, 4 players is best as the bots are pretty thick. GFWL and no game save cloud is a turn off for me though.

Orcs Must Die! 2. The original was an excellent tower defense game and with the addition of co-op in the sequel it got so much better!

Portal 2. If you have already completed it on single player, play it again as the co-op campaign is completely different (new co-op only levels)

Renegade Ops. Admittedly wasn't the best co-op game I've ever played, but it does support up to 4 players, the X360 controller, it was fun for five minutes and it was something a little different. Can be bought cheap too

Resident Evil 5. Many die hard fans hate the game for the new direction but really, it isn't a bad game in its own right. GFWL and no game save cloud again though.

Resident Evil 6. Sort of like RE5, but much faster paced but with the added bonus of no GFWL and cloud game saves. Fortunately neither are as bad as RE: Operation Raccoon City though!

Trine 2, but try not to cheat by enabling levitation etc hehe, though ideally you'd need 3 players for that, but if you mess with the options the game is perfectly playable on 2 player co-op with character switching, but less challenging.

Lastly there are plenty of Play4Free online games. I'm currently playing PlanetSide 2 mostly at present. There can be pretty epic 3 way battles with hundres or even thousands of players, but I personally like to roam around with just my tank gunner and harass the enemy from behind

I also own another dozen or so co-op games we're yet to get around to playing yet as we bought them as they were on sale so I can't really comment on them just yet, but I am really looking forwards to playing, Dead Island, Saints Row The Third and The Darkness II when we get time.

Dead Island was a blast in co-op. It's like Far Cry in Co-op with zombies and tons of rediculous dialogue.

Would agree on everyone's recommendations. The MMO world can be great for co-op game play, and there's a lot of free ones out there too.

League of Legends, Dota 2, CS:GO, Half Life

There's also all the stuff like WoW, Guilds Wars etc.

Any game which you can level up in with your friends is always enjoyable
Politics is were the working man pays his hard earned money to a group of clueless people to make suspect decisions.
