Adrian 'Warby' Warburton....
Flew photo-recon missions off Malta. Apparently a very scary man on landing and take off, a bit "split-arse" - he managed to rip a main wheel off his Maryland once just taking off , but he was a demon in the air. Took some fantastic oblique pictures of the Italian fleet in harbour - basically put them off invading Malta... came back to base with a radio antenna from one of the eye-ties ships lodged in his tail wheel.
My favourite tale tho is one where he flew an unarmed PR Spitfire to take pictures over Sicily, and got shot at by an AA gun. INfuriated that they made a hole in his aeroplane and at the least shot at him, he jumped into a combat Spit immediately on landing, took off and shot the gun up. "That'll learn em"
Last seen heading off from England in a P-38 to take pictures of Germany...

Manfred Freiherr von Richthofen
Not really anything to say, other than his 80 aerial victories. The name speaks for itself.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.
