Haha, as far as I know, you can't start a guild battle without an officer present anyway, so no worries there.

How exactly do you get Elite skills, is it after ascension ?
I've just made it to Druids whatever after the Divinity Coast mission, need a hand on that one to do the bonus bit, other than that it was a pretty short mission and not to hard.
Cant you still use the signets of capture?
Yeh there's some uber skills you can get from bosses using the signet of capture
Ive got a few Medioca ones, the boss that i know has a skill i want is back on another quest, if i jsut walked into the arear would it be there? Despite my killing it some weeks ago.
I believe I'm correct in thinking that you capture elites during the *spoiler removed* mission as there are different *spoiler removed* for each profession as you go through.
The ascended peeps might have a clue what I'm on about.

I only got to use the Signet of Capture twice, its gone now. Hopefully will get it back a bit later on as a permanent addition
Yes, each domain has a different class related to it and each boss will give an elite skill. They wont give all the elite skills though, just one or two.Originally Posted by mnet674

Hope you dont mind my posting here.
I was taking a peek at your thread and oggle'd some screenies. I was wondering if any of you had played wow also and if you might give me a brief comparison? The visual aspect appears to be less cartoonish than wow, more like the morrowind world? I undersand leveling is harder solo and the game is based on more of a team work setup in order to do this?

Rhyth, the game can be played however you want to play it... with a team or without... its really up to you!
Personally I liked the whole working in a team thing. It gives you a better experiance (if you find a good team )
The graphic's are quite good its just right for the game!
The two are actually incredibly similar for the most part.
The main difference is that WoW tries to emulate an entire, persistent world. Guild Wars is based on instanced missions, so basically the only place you meet other players is in towns and villages which act pretty much as a graphical lobby system. This is where you sell to merchants, trade with other players, and form teams to go out and do quests/missions.
Quests and missions are instanced, so once you leave a town you won't bump into any players which weren't already in your party before you left. Personally, I think I prefer this system.....it kind of annoyed me in WoW when I was grinding enemies for drops, and then some high level jerk would come along and kill everything around me really quickly just to deprive me of anything else to kill. Instances ensure that never happens.
Also, fights are faster, and don't rely so much on dodging attacks, but more on managing your skills etc. Your character is much less mobile (you can't jump or swim). For instance, in WoW I found that to be successful in a duel with another player, you had to adopt a FPS style of play. In Guild Wars, you choose a target, tell your character to attack him, and he will use his default attack automatically at a constant rate. He'll also chase the opponent down if he tries to run away, leaving you to worry more about casting spells at the right moment etc. Not sure if I made myself clear or not there, haha.
Also (and this was my biggest gripe with WoW), Guild Wars has a far FAR superior map system. Apart from the fact the map actually bears a resemblance to the world (it's basically a giant top-down screenshot), when doing quests you're provided with waypoints and markers to help you find your objectives. The fact that WoW doesn't provide this REALLY put me off, as missions take a hell of a lot longer simply because you spend so much time aimlessly wandering around trying to find the right person to talk to, or the right monster to kill.
Also, once you have visited a town, it gets added to your map, and you can warp to it at any time you like, as opposed to WoW where you had to find a griffon trainer and then pay him to fly back to a town.
WoW actually involves far too much running around for my tastes. Especially if you die, running back to your body is a real pain in the arse.
So basically, to summarise, I think Guild Wars goes for more of an immediate pick-up -> play -> have fun approach (think diablo/dungeon siege). It's really not a MMORPG. Just an Online RPG.
WoW goes for immersion, making you almost live a second life within a dynamic, persistent world (and therefore all the boring things that go with it such as huge travel times between locations).
Thanks fellas, I have a better picture of the game now. It sounds interesting and worth a dabble at some point
