Argh getting a bit confused here, I don't know what to have...

I chose a Night Elf Warrior, but eventually my mate said that they ain't that good etc, and I should get a rogue. I took his advice and made a rogue, I'm now level 8 (I know, right at the beginning still) but I am not really enjoying rogue at all. On Guild Wars, I really enjoyed my magic-based Elementalist character, whos my main character, so maybe I will get a mage or something.

Any good advice? Or is Rogue fine and has a good future to level up to?

Mages and rogues are 5 a penny. On most servers anyway. You could try a warlock - they are quite rare and therefore in high demand later on in the game. A mage would be ok too, but be prepared that you will need to drink a lot between fights.

If you want a warrior - go for it. To be honest theres nothing wrong with having a ton of alts and trying everything.

Just don't start a paladin expecting to be fighting in melee when you hit 60. It should be better with 1.9 but it isn't all fun at 60 at the moment. Depends if you have a good guild though.

It's probably the same in GWs - if you pick a warrior you'll be able to do sick damage, but it is likely that your role will be to take sick damage instead. A good warrior is a great asset to the group.

You don't have to be pigeon holed when you hit 60, but you will be to a certain degree.

Oh, and if you start alts you can level them faster by using their rested bonus (u get it if u stay at inns when u log out, remember). Levelling alts will give u a feel for what other classes can do and will give you more respect for your fellow players (or not in some cases like rogues who cry "heal me"*).

*Sorta alloweable when theres aoe, but you might not need to be there when it happens
Tough on mirrors, tough on the causes of mirrors.

Whoa thanks for the nice post

Well I've been looking at a lot of useful sites that someone gave me above, and I have decided to carry on with with Rogues. Being able to use a sword looks cool, but being able to use double swords later on looks cooler (Ok its not about coolness I know, but double swords must be quite fun and powerful)

I've got plenty of time to decide if I want another race and class. Also I thought that for me there may be one clear choice for what I want, but it doesn't seem the case

Heh its too early to be thinking about being Lvl 60

i quit this a few weeks ago, had been 60 for quite a while and started an alt but the game itself is so flawed imo it wasn't worth my time anymore, it seemed like i would just waste days on it getting next to no where in the long run. Especially on my server where only the top guilds get good lewt and even then it takes 3-4 hours play everynight of the week.

It was more like a chore than fun.

just read this after i posted, i was a rogue at 60, don't bother mate they are great 1-59, really fun but at 60 they get eclipsed on damage by warriors and are easy targets in bg. Also no one will want you for groups because other classes can offer so much more. Don't waste your time, reroll now before its too late.

    i'll say this

dont go out and make 1 main char. go and make a few, and level them up, it will go faster because of rested xp. soon enough you will find one that you like playing the most!

and by the time you've finished bumbling about wondering what char to roll and choose (i did this!) you miss the boat on all the good guilds and are left out to dry fumbling about in bg's. At least on my server

Thanks for the help fellas, but I've decided to now keep the Rogue After doing some research, etc etc, and getting better grips with the whole of the game, I am pretty happy with where it's all going

Also being a female character subjects you to being flirted by ¬_¬ as if a girl they met online would meet up with them or something

    ... actually I take that back because it happens ;_;

I just chose a single char from the outset and played it. Still enjoying it.

In PvP - maybe, but in PvE warriors will mostly be protection - they won't be outdamaging anyone but the healers.

The advantage of the rogues is that they can provide sustained dps throughout the fight. They have no mana to worry about. I think its best to have a balanced group. When all your dps classes are out of mana you'd be very glad to see some rogues on your side

unreal - if you do stick to your rogue - remember that in groups where there is a tank you are not supposed to take damage. Sometimes that may be because of a bad tank, but more often than not its an over eager rogue who forgets to feint and just goes for the high numbers and then shouts "heal me". As a healer my priority is to keep the tanks and other healers alive first, and to maybe give dps classes a little heal so they are alive long enough to bandage, unless its a really easy fight and i have lots of mana to spare (which lately i do often, funnily enough).

I like the saying - "you spank it - you tank it"

well, heres what i found out in my time off from the christmas priod..

    HUNTERS ARE OVERPOWERED!

My hunter is now level 35 and unstopable =\ im fully beastmaster spec and with the 3 second stun (as long as it doesnt resist) gives me enough time to wing clip and get range i feel reallly sorry for any melee fighters and range tbh ^ ^

having a 300 enchanter helps ofc with +9 stam on bracers +7stam on boots and all armour having +stam (cept chest which is +17 agil) i got a total health of 1.9k which i dont think is to bad for a hunter at level 35 3.4k total kills and neally rank 4 ^ ^ in 2 weeks

i also respec'd my rogue ^ ^ 21/9/21, cold blood with prep is SICK went in to av and had soooooooooo much fun killin ppl with an ambush crit and an evis crit ^ ^ (cept you damn warriors and paladins...)

unreal if you need advice on rogues go back a few pages here where me and mr anderson were talkin bout our rogues, theres a whole page of advice there ^ ^

Yeah that's mostly true but we have 2 damage warriors and in some situations (where aggro is not a problem) the warriors can put out huge DPS, last night on Maggy one of our DPS warriorswas number 1 on the damage meter, although mostly because he was able avoid all of the fears, while the rogues were runing around like headless chickens

But where the tank doesn't have total aggro lock the warriors are limited on DPS, because they have no way of losing aggro, this is where the rogues do significantly more damage that the warriors. And where aggro is really low the hunters do the best damage because they can lose all their aggro every 30 seconds by using feign death.
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.
