Same for DAoC.. that game is only alive because of the pvp, and if you are not lvl50 then it's pointless even setting foot into the pvp areas. (Except in the battlegrounds, but they purely suck.)

So because of this, it happens a hella lot. It's actually half normal for guilds to power level each members classes... the more 'pro' guilds also share all accounts, so that no matter who is online, they will always have an optimised group. the French guilds also powerlevel their crafters so they can all get the uber items for free. Necromancer ftw when it comes to powerlevelling. Ultimate pve toon

I think I have a unique ability here....

It's the ability to see the issue from both sides

Regarding paying people to level you - I've seen a few guilds in games set stupid rules like you must level x amount per week between levels 1-10, then level x amount per week between levels 20-30 and so forth. They do this so they all can stay near the same level as each other and work as a unit.

But, life being life means that some of us cannot be mithered to spend Friday night infront of a PC, grinding for silk, wood, wool etc iand instead going out and displaying our mating plumage on the dancefloor.

Now, missing these "fridays" ingame after a few months obviously causes a level chasm to appear. Imagine playing and missing 3 days per week while the others are all on all the time. In a matter of 2 months there would be at least a 10 level difference and this is when the problems start because you ask for help and nobody replies as they all cannot be arsed to help as they are all off in the next area, hunting down the latest and greatest equipment in game so they can walk around what I call "willy-waving" drooling over the % DPS and % speed increases a ring gives.

Now, Imagine the same scenario with the same people. This time imagine the same conditions, but when someone asks for help somebody actually says "yes come on and we'll get it done in 20 mins" No power-levelling would be needed.

It's a social problem - your always going to get elitest groups in games thinking they are the bee's knee's. This paying to level is just a way of allowing "part-timers" in a MMORPG join a big bunch of egotistical gamers who want the greatest equipment and best groupings possible.

I hate the people that pay-to-level and in the end I was in a guild in WoW with nearly 90% of the guild who were end game and attacking the bosses. Rather than mither them all for help, I asked once and if nobody was available I went and did it anyway ( yes it was harder ). I could of taken the easy "VISA" way out and paid somebody to powerlevel me - probably while they were on a 78 hour MMOPRG session in a cybercafe, but instead I left the guild ( on my own accord ) and then after a while got bored with WoW

    *wipes brow*

Is that a good enough post for you

How? Im having trouble with levelling too fast, if i ever make a new character sneak alchemy restoration and block are definately not going to be primary skills.

to be fair someone's found a new way to make money and kudo's to them, but yeh it still sucks from the other point of view to pay for a pre-leveled character.

On a side note is it just me that thinks all characters in all games should be allowed to level to 100, its just a much nicer number than 20 or 60 or 50.

Maybe i should go out more and display my plumage on the dancefloor

Wheres the fun in playing the game and spending time developing your character. You buy the game in the first place to play it.

Guild Wars Prophecies campaign took me around 130 hours to get through start to finish and I enjoyed every minute of it. I cant see the point in purchasing a game then letting someone else do it for you. I guess the good thing about Guild Wars is that if its just PvP you are interested in then you have the option to create a PvP only character that is max level when you start. However, with this type of character you cant actually go through the story and the RPG side of the game.

People who pay someone to power level a character shouldn't be playing the MMO in the first place. If they don't like grinding to max level, they're not gonna like grinding for items at end game.

I don't like it, thats why I just quit WoW and took up EVE.

If they're a brand new player then they'll skip to the end and it will be so obvious they've payed someone to do it because they'll be so clueless. If this is someone who wants to make a different character available for end game after they've got a character or 2 there already and had good experience there then thats slightly better, but not ok.

I just wanted to add my "experience" with this, When playing wow I was talking to a guy who had one of his Toons he plays power leveled, his excuse being that-

"My guild needed a priest badly and no priests were avaliable at the time"

so the guild themselves chipped in and had one power leveled.

Nope personally I dont really agree with that but each to their own, if thats what they wanted then so be it

Its pretty difficult to power level in wow if not impossible

They off a "power leveling" service but this is not exatly power levelin, its just two or three guys playing that toon 20 days solid

    man I just confused myself

ah right, I thought you could make a 7man group + gimp and go chop some dungeon to pieces several times. Tis what happens in DAoC a lot.

Indeed, alot of 'older' MMO games you can do this on I,E DAoC and EQ1 but in wow if you group with someone higher level really lowers the exp per kill you get from 100+ to between 6 - 20 hehe its a good idea though imo and even better example is EQ2 where if you group with someone over a certain amount of levels it stops ANY exp gain and you also cannot quest
