Just shoot RAW plus jpeg?? Its not like flash storage is that expensive nowadays, and most dSLRs will give you hundreds of shoots per battery too.

what is it with cats that look like they're always pissed off?

Not so much pissed off, just that irritating air of superiority about them that says, "I shall tolerate you for now human since you feed me but know that I am a far more important creature than you are"
And it popped..

Argh the hdr! It burns my eyeses precious!
Is it HDR, or just clarity up to 11?

HDR is like a fashion faux pas that has been and gone, like platform shoes for fellas.
I'm sure that, like fashion, it will swing back round in ten years and be all 'retro cool' but for now it's happily in most reputable togs' sin-bins along with selective colour.
i just threw up in my mouth....

the focus is so good on that it looks like you superimposed the kids on the backdrop.

In the garden doing tedious weeding and wotnot and this little fella appeared. Ran in the house and grabbed the first camera to hand, the new Olympus OM-D.
Note, this is not representative of my macro skill or the camera's technical capabilities. I don't have a macro lens (yet) for the OM-D this is just the 20mm f1.7 so the MFD is carp, hence the chunky crop. Still, I was pleasantly surprised for something essentially shot from the hip in a hurry.
I could've gone in and fetched the 7D, macro lens, tripod etc etc but by the time I'd even thought of it he'd scarpered.
