    £100-150 Digital Camera

Its my gf's birthday soon and she wants a camera.
Range is £100-150, and ideally i would like around 8-megapixels (maybe more) and a decent optical zoom.
Brand doesn't really matter too much, as long as its sturdy and shoots a decent picture.

Is there any current bargains to be had at the moment?

    Many Thanks

    Re: £100-150 Digital Camera

It's an average modern digital camera with poor optical zoom - loads of em about at the same price.

Personally unless you need an ultra compact then I'd go for something like the fujifilm superzooms - something like the S1000D
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fujifilm-Fin...clickref=57038

They have some of the best image quality photos I've seen from a point and shoot, it's sturdy, and certainly has a decent optical zoom. But it might be a bit big (you didn't specify if size was a consideration)

If you do want to go down the ultra compact route, then the canon Ixus are probably the class leaders, though getting a high zoom one for your budget might be a bit trickier. If you're fine with 3x then the Ixus 80 is a great little camera available in a range of colours (pick one shown):

They're good cameras too - the only problem is you have to use Sony's proprietary memory stick format.

You might want to consider the next one up too - the W170, which at amazon is still cheaper than the W150 at jessops:

    Re: £100-150 Digital Camera

I've been through and recommended a few generations of panasonic cameras and would highly recommend them to anyone. I think some of their newer cameras even have a wider angled lens (although don't expect miracle results from a small camera) it can still be nice to get wide shots from a point and shoot.

    Re: £100-150 Digital Camera

i paid 204 pounds (plus 6 pounds pp) and got a panasonic fz 28 .... its super best of the non dslr digicams (canon sx10 is larger heavier suffers from blue frindging and has no raw file format) ... the pany needs its default settings tweaking (check out forum on dpreview dot com) to make pics sharper (they are a touch too soft at default settings) ... i also run it at default half a stop underexpose as well .... seriously gr8 superzoom cam (i wish they hadnt shrunken the evf though ;-)
