I got my Nikon D50 from John Lewis , but it's only 12.5% off electrical stuff assuming you have a partner discount.

Could you not have got them to price match Jessops first, after they price matched the online retailer, then got your 25% discount, then gone through quidco and got a further 8% off?

I live in John Lewis most Sunday mornings and everytime I wonder past the DSLRs and dribble

How comes you get the 25% off?

is it? BLEH! I thought it might be, i thought you got more of a discount the longer you'd worked there... it's still a fair whack off the price!

FWIW, I've never had a problem getting Jessops to price match to any website I want, as long as you take a printout of the 'Checkout' stage from said website, showing availability of stock and any promotional codes used.

The only two things to be aware of are:

    > Jessops online discount codes aren't usually valid for digital cameras
    > They wont _normally_ offer their 3/6/9 month interest free credit on priced matched items, unless you smile sweetly

Not forgetting the fact that Jessops staff (similar to JL's it seems ) automatically get a 20% 'friends & family' discount anyway, so it's well worth either a) befriending one of them, or b) getting a part time job there, just long enough to buy what you want.

Haha, I work full time, I dont think i could go back to working in a shop now

I have now decided to go with John Lewis, i totally forgot about the partners discount that my Uncle gets, so that beats any of the prices i've seen, even at 12.5%.

cheers for all the advice peeps!

sounds like a good move Elmo...let us know how you get on! although its not their primary sales I'd prefer JL over jessops, I've bought and returned stuff from them before and never had any problems, plus they almost always beat other places on price when asked... well done

right well picked up this baby today i love it already and i've not even used it properly yet!

One thing tho... why does it not come with a lens cap string?! it's really annoying and i'm so paranoid i'm going to lose it surely it'd just be SENSIBLE to have a string on the lens cap as standard?!
