    Enough Power?

I'm currently in the process of upgrading my current PC. At the moment my rig is:

    Intel core i7 950

    Asus p6x58d-e motherboard

    6GB Corsair ram

    500 GB Hard drive

    Soundblaster Soundcard

    Radeon R9 270x

    Corsair CX600 PSU

Corsair H50 Hydro series CPU cooler.

I'm planning on adding another 6GB of ram (3x2gb) and adding a Western Digital 1TB Caviar Black Performance Hard Drive .

Will my current Corsair cx600 PSU be able to handle this or should I upgrade the PSU as well (been looking at the Corsair cx750).

Unless you are adding multiple graphics cards you will be fine, a little bit of ram and 1 HDD is nothing.

    Re: Enough Power?

Just for future reference, don't always go by the wattage on the label. A lot of psu's will get nowhere near that on the all important 12v rails. The CX series is a prime example of this due to being built down to a budget. Depending on which version of the CX600 you have, you could have either 480w or 552w on the 12v rail. See here. A good modern psu should be capable of delivering most if not all of it's wattage on the 12v rails.

True, but both of these are far far more than needed for the OP's spec.

    Re: Enough Power?

Indeed, that's why i said just for future reference. People see 500 or 600 watts on a label and think that's what the psu can actually manage. In a lot of cases manufacturers make a lot of the wattage up on the minor rails but they can't get near their stated output on the 12v rail where it's actually needed.

Once again, thanks for the responses guys, much appreciated.

One more question though, does it matter that my existing PSU is around 3 years old ?

No, that's still quite young in PSU age

    Re: Enough Power?

3 years old is just getting well seasoned. Use it till it fails. A decent brand is unlikely to cause damage when failing anyway
