What... the european royal families have been doing this for years... ooh did I say that out aloud again?

It's sick that's what it is and to have a kiddy, well - I reckon thats pretty grim really.

I couldn't really care less about them, considering the circumstances no-one was forced into this situation so as far as I'm concerned no-one was affected by them being together... but...

To have a child from this relationship is cruel and selfish. They are deliberately creating a child under circumstances which they know full well could and probably will cause it to have genetic problems from the start. As if that's not enough, they even persisted having lost the first attempted child!

Then, as has been mentioned, there is the whole bullying aspect as the child grows up, and dealing with knowing they are the product of an incestuous pairing. Eww.

All in all Relationship, gross but they are both consenting adults so it's not abuse... Child, wrong and for bringing an innocent life into this they deserve everything they get.

Actually, to be honest, how the kid is treated really depends on the actions of the people. I.e. me and you, not really the child. If people don't bully the kid just because of this history, then the kid won't feel being bullied.

Nice in theory, but unfortunately you are but 1 person, same goes for me, and we're not going to stop every other person out there bullying this kid. The kid will be bullied for this and there's nothing you or I can do about it short of following her around her whole life protecting her, which is never going to happen and in itself would probably be more harmful if someone did.

In the real world, saying "Why can't we all just get along?" doesn't stop bullying and fighting, and preying on my concience by somehow implicating me as a dependant for the happiness of the child does not affect the hundreds of other less-friendly people she will meet in her life who will bully her for her background.

Consider the actual meaning of the word "bastard" and how it is used today if you want proof that her parents actions will reflect on her throughout her life from the people she meets, and having kids out of wedlock is a far less serious problem than incest. Even without the medical reasons against it, bringing a child into the world in this way is simply not fair, and the burden of responsibility rests solely on the parent's shoulders as the adults who consented to make this happen.

But having said that, I guess if you regard them as in the Animal Kingdom, they can do this.
And what happens when the grand daughter reaches age...

But people get bully for all sorts of reasons and it doesn't have to be that extreme as in this case. E.g. that kid that sang in Britain's Got Talent got bullied because of his singing...

Not applying to this case but it seems that you think it is a parent's fault their kid does not "blend in" and is not "normal" enough that other people will start bullying?

So you are saying, that parents should have not kids because they should not let their kids be bullied? Applying your theory, if a parent (e.g. you) knew that their (your) due-to-be born baby had down syndrome (which I am sure will get bullied), you would ask the doctors to stop it being born?

edit - let me know if i misunderstood though

it's like hollyoaks all over again, bloody show, i get forced to endure a couple of episodes everyso often just so's i can watch takeshi's castle
and even missing a weeks worth of hollyoaks i still know whats going on... its not the most complex of shows. i had to sit through 2 episodes of it about 2 hours ago, just cos me sis wanted to know what happened cos they got "discovered"

ah well, it is the "family game"

what happened in hollyoaks? my gf watches this, but so far, i refuse to take part.

as for this thread and topic, im sure 99% of people will think it's wrong on one or all levels. especially having a kid.

Its odd and unacceptable. Its abuse by the father surely. What kind of life will their child have?
