    Have your beef about this...

The British offered packaged meals for the victims of hurricane Katrina. The Americans rejected the meals as they contained British beef. Fully story here:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4344168.stm

So, who is right? The end of that story is an interesting read. The meals are sat in an American warehouse and the Americans are happy to forward them on to other parts of the world where food is required.

More to do with American pride, rather than heath issues i think. Anyway, it's the USA with an outbreak of BSE going on the moment.

It'll be down to the litigatious american society. If one victim of Hurricane Katrina comes down with BSE and they had eaten a ration pack from Britain then they would be entitled to $$$$$ even if there was no scientific poof of a link.

So yeah - feed it to the people who can't sue.

Actually no, they really shouldn't accept MOD ratpack corned beef hash, unless they enjoy 'squitting through the eye of a needle' as someone, somewhere once put it.

Well, as somebody who lived on "rat packs" for a couple of weeks I can tell you the opposite is true, they in fact make you constipated and lower your sex drive. I clearly remember taking just one dump in a week and it was a foot and a half totally unbroken monster log that didnt fit into the hole I dug...

That's what the biscuits are for:

green 'biscuit browns' to constipate you at the beginning of an ex, purple 'biscuit fruits' to cancel out the effects at the end of an ex

Unfortunately there are no sex-drive biscuits

Having survivied MoD ratpacks for over a decade I can assure you that the blocking characteristics inherent can work wonders if you happen to have the squits. They became prized items in Kenya after the effects of the local water were felt on our delicate European stomachs.

As for the smelly squaddie bit. I clearly remember my wife's face when I got to the door after an excercise (in the same clothes I had walked out of the door 3 weeks earlier). To be greeted with "ugh, you stink". She then legged it as I can also assure you that the ratpacks don't lower your sex drive........and the race was on

Mind you, gimme a ratpack over a yank MRE any day ....bluuurgghhhhh
