Have added the first graphics benchmarks.
Have added the first graphics benchmarks.
Although I obviously hate you for winning you certainly knock up a decent review!
Indeed that's a great job CAT
any chance of the ondie i3 2100 gpu results for diablo3?

Thanks! I still have to get the benchmarks for the other games up still - the HD2000 benchmarks will take a bit longer.

Thanks for taking the time for such a detailed review, i know if it was me then it would have been a few pics and that would have been about it.
Keep on with the good work
Robert
Now that's some detail - Great work Cat...*watches with interest*
Last set of game benchmarks added. I will have to see when I can add the HD2000 IGP benchmarks as I cannot find the HDMI to DVI adaptor I had.

Cat did you use the stock fan? What is the noise like.. (I know this is subjective).. general opinion..
and lastly can you use existing AM3 fans on FM1 based cpu?
I used the stock cooling fan.
With the Antec case on the floor, the CPU fan at idle is not really audible above the case fans(a single Hiper 80MM and a single Antec Tricool 120MM at the lowest setting). If I take the side off and listen to the fan closer, there is a slightly higher frequency component at idle.
With the system under stress, the fan does ramp up a bit more, but again is not that much more audible over the case fans.
However,it is not quiet per-se and the case is on the floor away from me.
AFAIK,AM3 coolers will work fine with FM1 sockets.

Hi there,
I can see from your previous posts that you are interested in mini-ITX/Shuttle builds.
Today I got a Shuttle SZ77R5. I am happy with it other than the noise coming from the PC63J PSU.
I see that you had this PSU, how did you find it for noise? Especially compared to your hold HX520? I just need to decide if mine is dodgy or just standard.
I find mine exceptionally loud, I can hear it easily from 3 metres away.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks.

I'm using the Shuttle SZ77R5, 3570K with a 256GB M4 SSD.
So pretty much no sound elsewhere. I'm using the integrated graphics so no graphics fan noise.
Do you think mine may be faulty?
Thanks for the reply.
I did some analysis of fan speeds in my review It's worth mentioning that it will depend on case airflow and ambient temperature: I found that at cool idle it's very quiet (with the CPU @ 31C the fan only spins at 1700rpm and is almost silent) but the fan speed ramps up quite quickly...
Great in depth review Cat. And I'm really so glad that a helpful, active forum member won the competition! Actually gives me hope for future competitions (not that I am putting my puny Hexus contribution in the same league as Cat-the-Fifths!)
Thanks for the comments!!
I wonder if anyone has an HD6570 lying around(hint...hint...AMD) which I can test Hybrid Crossfire with?? I have an HD5670,but cannot use that!!
Cat; in raw cpu power does this mesure up to a Q6600 if clocked to the same 2.7GHz ?
