    sound issues on new build

after installing win 7 on the new build i cannot get my speakers to work at all, i am using the onboard sound and have installed the drivers from the mobo install disk. I have tried unistalling drives and rebooting and reinstalling, deleting the devices in hardware devices, the volume is not muted anywhere at all . When i plug the speakers in i get a pop up stating that i have plugged something in and if i go into the installed software it shows a jack inserted into the green port , if i test the speakers from within the software it shows it testing the speakers but i still get no sound.I have even looked in the bios to ensure on board sound is enabled so i am almost ready to pull the board and send it back as i cant think what else it can be

    spec of pc is

    amd 965
    asus m4a88td-m evo
    8gb ddr3 1600
    gtx 570 graphic
    60gb ocz ssd
    1tb samsung spinpoint

have now reinstalled windows to see if it was possibly that but it has made any difference

make sure that its set to the correct output in the control panel i had this issue when i started using HDMI audio then switched back to the TRS. Its most likely trying to output it through the wrong connection

Re: sound issues on new build

have checked and the sound out put is set for speakers and speakers are set as default device , as mentioned before when a speaker is plugged into a jack the realtek software displays a pop up stating a device has been connected and when i open the program it shows which jack it is plugged into so beginning to think it is a mobo fault

when i reinstalled win 7 i decided to downloaded earlier drivers from asus and realtek websites and neither of them gave me sound. When configuring the speakers and it plays a sound and the levels show up in the volume mixer

May sound like rather a daft question but do the speakers work? have you tried a pair of headphones or something instead.

Re: sound issues on new build

its not a daft question at all as its the obvious things like that people tend to overlook ,the speakers definitely work as they come from my old pc but i have checked them on another pc and my laptop and they work fine
