    Re: Component know-how

That fractal case does look great and on the 300's noise/fans. Yeah they're acceptable but not much more. That fractal looks really hard to beat at £60.

    Re: Component know-how

Ether is a solid case, I do think the define r3 has the edge, great case for just £60

    Re: Component know-how

I've been debating between the two cases as well, and I'm going to be getting the Fractal, since the higher temps won't be such a problem as I will be using water cooling in my new rig.

If the OP wants to really go cheap they could get this graphics card for £86:

    Then sell off the games!!

    Edit!!

    There is this deal too:

    Re: Component know-how

Beware of water cooing in ether of the define r2 or 300r cases, nether all take water cooling out the box and will require modding (except for single 120 rads)
If you want water cooling without modding I'd suggest looking at the ARC midi R2 http://www.scan.co.uk/products/fract...ck-with-window or coolermaster 690ii http://www.scan.co.uk/products/coole...x-dock-w-o-psu

the arc is designed to be extra wide with off set top fan mounts so a rad will clear the motherboard allowing almost any combination of fan or 240 rad thickness to be used, the 690II will take a slim 240rad in the top, you have to put the fans above under the top bezel, and a 2nd 240 rad on the floor by removing the lower half of the hard drive cage.

    Re: Component know-how

Looks like it'll be the Fractal Design Define R3 case then

As I am upgrading my PSU, GPU, RAM, case and purchasing an SSD, these are the components picked so far:

    PSU: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/550w-...-quiet-fan-atx

    RAM: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/4gb-c...-9-9-9-24-150v

    Case: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/fract...ng-noise-absor

Have been looking at the 3 GPU's below and a comparison of bench tests are here:
    http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/547?vs=660
    http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/549?vs=660

I would assume that it would be better to get the GTX660? Correct me if I am wrong

If you are spending £150 to £160 the two fastest cards are the GTX660TI 2GB and the HD7870XT which have been listed in this thread.

I have a GTX660 myself which is not a bad card at all,but the GTX660TI 2GB and HX7870XT are much faster. However,if you are overclocking your graphics card, the GTX660 and GTX650TI Boost have less headroom than a HD7850(on average) and come with a poorer games bundle.

However, looking at the cheaper cards the GTX650TI Boost 2GB would be fine for your purposes. Gigabyte also have a UK based warranty too.

    Re: Component know-how

I'm getting the CM Seidon 120M for water cooling so it's only going to be a small 120 rad so should be fine in the R3.

Connor for GPU if you can afford the extra tenner or so, maybe the GTX660Ti would be a better choice.

    Re: Component know-how

If you're spending £170 you just can't beat the offer someone posted earlier. http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/msi-...da-tek-1607283 or that CCL version. sub £170 for a 660ti is a bargain. Great cards.

    For sub-£150 660GTX, sub-£130 7850

    Re: Component know-how

Added it all up, comes to around £300 or so if I get a GTX660 and around £340/£350 if I get a GTX660 Ti

I'll search for an SSD also

    Thanks
