Problem with my Asus Rampage 2 extreme motherboard

Hey guys, think i've run into my first problem with the system.

Earlier today the system shut down unexpectedly and hasn't been able to post/boot since.

I've tried resetting the cmos, but that has not helped.

I've taken out the cmos battery for 10 minutes, unplugged everything, put the battery back in, and nothing has changed.

(Now take the battery to leave overnight)

I've looked at the motherboard, and noticed two orange led lights on the BIOS and HDD.

These are supposed to be green i believe, and i've tried looking for solutions online, but have had no luck.

The graphics card fans also do not start, i've checked and both gtx 280's have the green light at the back saying that they are getting enough power.

I've tried it with one 280, and still doesn't post.

I've tried it with an old 8800gt and though the fans power up and it works, there is nothing on the screen.

I do not believe it is a PSU problem.

It does not post, and there is nothing on my screen to prompt me to go into bios or setup.

I did a bios upgrade around 6 months ago, and everything was working fine until this point.

When i turn it on, sometimes it will turn on automatically, and holding the power button has no effect, i have to switch it off at the mains.

Pressing the clear cmos button, only restarts to have it turn again without me pressing the power button.

I've read in the manual, you can switch between bios 1 and 2, i've tried switching the jumpers, but no change, i still get an orange bios led light.

I also read that the HDD led will come on to indicate a few things, but won't come on if a hard drive is not present, i removed the sata cables from the hard drives, but the HDD led was on and still orange even though no hard drive was connected.

The LCD poster only shows welcome, and then a clock, it doesn't give me any error codes, it could be due to the fact that i have a usb keyboard, i've read online it might need a ps2 keyboard for it to post messages.

I've tried taking out the ram and only using one slot, this did not work , tried all three ram sticks, in different slots individually, a1, b1, c1.

I've tried to reseat the cpu, check for any bent pins, but found no problems.

I've read the manual, and looked online but nothing tells me what the orange leds mean.

The orange bios led has happend to a couple of people, but it's had no affect on their system.

I think i've tried all variables, and it seems the motherboard is dead.

I'll try using a different psu tomorrow, but i doubt it will help.

    Need some help guys

Re: Problem with my Asus Rampage 2 extreme motherboard

Hi Ben, i tested it with my Corsair HX620W PSU, and nothing has changed.

I thought it could be my hard drive, but i tested that in a spare pc, and it works fine.

    Thanks,

    Ruben
