    Acronis recovery queries.

    Hi all,

My much loved 3XS system has become a bit temperamental of late, programs not responding/crashing and so on.

I was considering a clean OS install but remembered I had Acronis true image home 2009 installed during the build (I didn't fully understand what it was at the time but was thankfully advised to do so). I have also noticed the "Acronis recovery F11" prompt on boot up.

I assume a restore point was set on my system before dispatch.

So I have a few questions regarding how to go about this which I would be much obliged for some advice on.

I understand that it will reset/wipe everything back to the point it was at the date I received my build.

So, I have backed up all my media/pictures, game profiles/save files, GPU and soundcard drivers, bookmarks and run files for any programs I don't have disks for to an external hard drive.

    My queries are:

Will the programs that were installed on my machine when it arrived still be there? ( I assume so)

Will this affect anything to do with my overclocked CPU bios profiles, will it reset them? (I think they are the same anyway but just wondering)

Are there any other files you would advise backing up, I couldnt think of anything other than what I have already said.

On which drive or drives was the restore point set? If only on the SSD which holds my OS will the files on my other x2 1TB drives be unaffected?

Any advice anyone could give me on an Acronis recovery attempt would be very much appreciated as I obviously have no experience in this process.

    Thanks.

    Re: Acronis recovery queries.

I need information on the backup that was placed on my system before I can proceed.

At what point was the backup made?

What programs were installed when the backup was made?

Was the backup set on the SSD drive only or will it reset all drives to the point of delivery?

Will I be left with the clean version of windows I had on first receiving my 3XS system?

    Re: Acronis recovery queries.

    Hi

The Acronis backup was created after all software and upto date drivers were installed

The backup is of the OS drive unless you have multiple partions and then its a backup of the OS partition

If you fire up Acronis and select the recover option you can right click on the backup file and select restore

Need any more help email your build and invoice number to systemsupport@scan.co.uk

    Regards

    Ben
