    White Tiger CPU Temperature concerns

    Build number: 31890

    Hey guys,

Sorry to make another thread, just looking for some clarification really.
The 980x is running on the Scan recommended overclock settings except for the CPU voltage, which is running at 1.4v rather than 1.45v as it's still stable and temperatures are lower.

However, even at 1.4v running a 24 hour Prime95 blend test with Realtemp GT monitoring temps, I'm getting maximum temps as follows:

    CORE 1: 93c
    CORE 2: 95c
    CORE 3: 89c
    CORE 4: 89c
    CORE 5: 93c
    CORE 6: 95c

Running at 1.45v (which is the recommended setting) the temperatures are over 100c.
There is practically no dust in the system, it is regularly dusted out.

In addition, after getting these temperatures, I have re-applied some Antec Formula 7 thermal compound to the CPU (applying a thin, even layer as recommended) and the temperatures are the same as before, possibly a degree or so different.

    Many thanks.

    Hi MrBear1987

You may have an airlock in the water and this could explain the temperatures

Please follos the guide on the sticky below to make sure the water is flowing freely, it is for one of our earlier Triad systems but the principle is the same

    Regards

    Ben

Re: White Tiger CPU Temperature concerns

    Hi Ben,

    Thanks for the reply.
Couple of questions. Could you let me know what maximum temps roughly I should be seeing on this system?

With regards to an airlock and the sticky, are you suggesting I simply tilt the system at a 45 degree angle whilst it's running to remove an airlock?

Or are you suggesting I drain the system and/or add more coolant?
If I'm supposed to be adding more coolant, I assume I'd just remove the front plate, and add some more Feser One into the reservoir?

If the system needing draining first, not sure I'd be too happy doing that myself.

If you could clarify exactly what I should be doing and what temperatures I should be expecting that would be greatly appreciated

    Cheers.

Re: White Tiger CPU Temperature concerns

Also if I'm simply required to top up the reservoir do I have the system running or powered down when I do this? Do I top it up with more of the same Feser One black coolant or simply add some deionised water to the reservoir?
    Sorry for all the questions!

Re: White Tiger CPU Temperature concerns

    Hi

We have the system on a bench and it is looking like a failed flow sensor this would explain why the temperatures are rising too high

We will update you as soon as we know more

    Regards

    Ben

    Hi Ben,

Many thanks for the update. Just glad you received the system safely!
Make sure you let me know what I owe for the replacement coolant and anything else that isn't covered under the warranty.

    Enjoy your evening

    Hi,

As Ben said the temperature sensor that sits inside the CPU loop had failed. Rather than just fail completely, it was strangely reporting the coolant as being 8-10 degrees C! When in reality it would have been 30+.

The aquaero system was adjusting the fans according to the 10 degrees reported by the sensor, so they were barely spinning! Hence the warm temperatures.

New sensor now plumbed in and reporting in the 20's.

    Will keep you updated.

    Regards
    Rob @ Scan

    Hi,

Quick update for you on your system. It's all flushed out and fresh coolant in both loops.

New CPU coolant temperature sensor is now plumbed in.

The other small jobs you mentioned have been done

Aquaero software installed and custom profile loaded (in English). I'll put a copy of the profile on your desktop for you to save on another drive incase you ever need to re-software your system.

As i mentioned, a few sections of tubing have been replaced in the CPU loop aswell.

    Onto the testing now!

I'll be in work tomorrow, so be able to give you an update then.

    Regards,

    Rob @ Scan

Re: White Tiger CPU Temperature concerns

Any chance of me being reunited with the system in time for the weekend?

    Hi Rob,

Excellent stuff. Many thanks, glad to hear all the temperatures are good. Appreciate your thorough approach
If the system isn't ready for the weekend then that's okay, it I'm dying for a Black Ops session lol
