I updated my IP35-Pro to BIOS 16 last night and when I went into the BIOS setup screens to reconfigure the BIOS, I noticed that my CPU temperature was at 61 degrees Celsius. I suspect it's an issue with my heatsink to CPU contact which I will check over the next few days. But I need to eliminate the upgrading of the BIOS.
If anyone has updated their IP35-Pro to BIOS 16, could you check your CPU temp reporting and confirm it's still okay?
I reflashed back to BIOS 14 and the BIOS reported the following temps:
CPU: 36
System: 33
PWM: 46
I then reflashed to BIOS 16 again and got the following:
CPU: 63
System: 34
PWM: 46
Thus, I think that BIOS may be reporting the CPU temperature incorrectly.
But which one?
It may well be 14 that is.
Taz.. run Core-Temp and that'll tell you your temps.. then you can work out which is wrong.
^ matty, CoreTemp agrees with BIOS 14. I've just seen a related set of posts on the Abit USA forums so I think BIOS 16 causes incorrect reporting with 65nm CPUs like the Q6600 but reports the correct temps on 45nm CPUs. At least that's what's being reported in the States.

1.7 Beta 2 still showed the temps too high for my Q6600. I've gone back to BIOS 14 which seems stable and reports the CPU temps properly.
There is something wrong definitely.
If you like BIOS 14 why would you not like all that come after it. 15/16/17 all integrate 14 into them.
Blitzen, the newer BIOS version (> 14) report incorrect temperatures for the 65nm CPUs like the Q6600. This plays havoc with the fan control which is always in at full blast because the system thinks that the CPU is too hot. I've checked the temperatures reported by CoreTemp and uGuru for each BIOS version that i've tested on my IP35-Pro.
This problem has been widely reported on the official Abit forums and, in fact, it has caused some users machines to shut down every now and then as the reported temperature has exceeded the limit to shut the machine down.
The latest version that appears to correctly report temperatures for 65nm CPUs is supposed to be BIOS 16Beta04, but I was unable to flash to this version as I got a 'Invalid Windows license' error when running the flash utility. Thus, i've gone back to BIOS 14 which is 100% stable and reports the CPU temperature correctly.
I would imagine that Abit are aware of the issue as its reported on their forums.
Im not disputing that.
What i mean is that the older bioses are all included in the newest ones so you dont have to sequentially install them.
only if reported directly to abit tech support (preferrably Taiwan).
the abit USA forums are user-to-user & not generally read by abit techs. afaik.

abit bios usually reports this incorrectly anyway, same with uguru.
Coretemp is not that accurate also, please try to use 'realtemp' as recommended on xtrememsystems
