True, but you're buying lower noise, rather than a considerable amount of extra performance Of course one thing that has to be considered is that there are plenty of aftermarket coolers for the 4890 when there still aren't any for the 4870X2 (the accelero doesn't yet count, I haven't seen any proof yet that the modified versions aren't still practically guaranteed to destroy the cards, and you still can't buy them in the UK)

A 4870x2 with a better cooler would be a damn fine card that would be best in class IMHO.

Absolutely. I wish I could tell if AC's modified Accelero is safe to use yet or not... :S

I think the sales rep/person had not clue whatsoever there, perhaps he was implying of AMD's Dragon platform?

That does anger me when people do that, to get more sales or etc.
