System Overclock Error - please help

    Hi guys,

Had my system for about a month now. Sometimes I boot up and an error appears (in fact third time tonight)....."System Overclock Failed" Press F1 to Modify or F2 for Default settings.

Why is this happening? The PC is 3XS with no overclocking. I wouldn't even know how to so there is no problems there. I haven't used the BIOS nor the Asus Gate thingy.

    I have the following :
    ASUS P6T Deluxe V2
    i7 920
    12GB Corsair Ram 1600Mhz
    ASUS GTX285
some massive cooler thing that looks like it runs a fridge lol

Any suggestions......? As I say it's happend 3 times in a month......just don't want it to be the start of a HDisk failure

Apart from this hiccup it runs really smoothly Thanks Again

    Thanks Recon

The Overclock failed message is quite a common one, it means the Bios has reset itself, this can be due to a bad shut down , unscheduled power off , hibernation etc, its nothing to worry about and though the system is not overclocked the Profile should still be saved as 3XS Standard in the bios

    Regards

    Ben

I have exactly the same board. Further to what Ben said and to clam your concerns - this is part of the recovery process of the Asus board. If the BIOS thinks that the last startup failed for some reason, it will load with defaults with the intention of allowing you back into the BIOS to make adjustments. This is to save having to clear the CMOS and starting again if you've pushed an overclock too far and it won't POST.

You really should be using the Scan profile - they've done all the hardwork for overclocking safely for you!

After you've loaded the Scan profile, if the error comes up again in future - hit F1 to go into the BIOS as it suggests, then just save (press F10) and it will reboot and keep your settings.
