Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate - Retail (Black), PreOrder Release 22/10/09

    xcase 4u 19inc rack case

the budget is £1000 and i already have the case.

could anyone recommend a cpu cooler that whould replace the stock one that whould fit in a 4u rack case as the ones I'm looking at are HUGE and wont fit in a 4u case. or will the stock cooler be OK in a 4u case. not sure how big they are from the pics.

    cheers

    Re: new i7 system

    Hi there,

Looking at your spec and it does acturly look more like a gaming system than an audio specfication. Is the reason you've decided to go with such a high end gfx card as that's likely to be quite hot and noisy for an audio system if your not gaming as well.

Also we don't work with that psu in here but we could fit it. Once again through the reviews i see state it's a rather noisy unit http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews....d=597&pageid=5
We go with Be Quiet! Corsair or Enamax modu series as they are quiet with extensive warrentys.

I tend to advise using the Gigabyte range over ASUS for audio due to the T.I. chipset implimentation over the Agias one on ASUS althrough if your not using the firewire at all on the system this isn't so much of an issue.

The bigger problem here the 4u case. I just looked for the xcase and realised we don't sell them. Is this for a system your building yourself? Just asking cause your in the wrong part of the message board if so!

The issue we have with the 4 u's here is that they can be problematic to cool and keep quiet. I'm guessing your case has a pair of 80mm fans on the back in which case it'll cool fine but be a little noisy if used close up.

I found this to be as effective as the 4u tower coolers that don't fit in those cases.

and if you have a 80mm fan on the back it should cool it fine. It's better to go with a 5u case and a tall cooler but as these are pretty rare to find (i've been hunting for a suitable one now for a while!) and as you already have the 4 u case that's proberly your best option.

hi i will be using it for games but the main reason i chose that card is that i can run my 3 24inc dells i plan on getting another as well so i can have six

ok i have changed the psu to a corsair

I tend to advise using the Gigabyte range over ASUS for audio due to the T.I. chipset
I'm not going to use the onboard fire wire so should be OK.

The bigger problem here the 4u case. I just looked for the xcase and realised we don't sell them. Is this for a system your building yourself?
i am building this myself sorry if i posted in the wrong place. i am buying it all from scan tho.

I'm guessing your case has a pair of 80mm fans on the back in which case it'll cool fine but be a little noisy if used close up.
yes it does have 2 80mm fans. if it does get to noisy i can put it in another room.

I found this to be as effective as the 4u tower coolers that don't fit in those cases
ill order that one then. i didn't realise that those tower coolers were like 50 feet high

It's better to go with a 5u case and a tall cooler but as these are pretty rare to find
Ive been looking for one as well i can find them but they cost a fortune

    cheers
