Question Adding to a 3XS Build order?

Hi quick question for the scan team. I understand that when a new build system is booked in, I will be contacted via email and asked for any special build orders at that point.
My question is, when I receive that e-mail and then respond, can I add to the original build order with in that e-mail ?

An example of this is, i plan to order a 3XS Intel X58 Core i7 - Custom PC Premium Grade setup, and i have configured the system using the online system configuration on the scan site. However i want to add an extra component to the build, a NZXT Sentry 1, LCD, Black Aluminum, Fan & Temperature Controller, and have it installed in the system, but there is no option to do this with in the online system configuration section. In order to have this extra bit of kit added to the build, would i be able to add it via the special build orders e-mail ? or would have to order it separately ?

    Thanks, Dave.

I can't answer officially, but I've added to a scan build order before myself, and they team sorted it for me (I think I added an extra disk for a raid array which wasn't an option on the pc i ordered at the time)

Re: Adding to a 3XS Build order?

I too have added extra bits to my system order, I think I placed the order for these through the Scan shop immediately after doing the system order. The two orders were merged together on one invoice and the whole lot shipped to me when the system was built. One of the "extras" was a GPU that I selected instead of one of the configurator ones so that was a rather necessary, and obvious component for the build. The other bits were small peripherals like keyboard/mouse.

The build team regularly monitor this forum so if they are aware of an impending purchase and you mention these "extras" I'm sure they will pick up on it quickly and marry the two parts of the order together (but, to be sure, you could always PM one of them with the order numbers of everything you have selected, just to make sure they get the message).

I expect someone official will be along in a while to confirm all this.

yea, NightOwl, this is basically what im after, would like the build and the extra fan controller & few other bits, to be combined into one build order of sorts, but was just a little unsure of how it would all work.

    Thnx.

    Hi,

Yeah if you respond to the email your sent (or even contact Phil P on here direct) he can arrange for the parts to be added to the build for you.

    Pete.

Question Re: Adding to a 3XS Build order?

    thx Pete.
One other thing, i noticed from reviews/specs that the motherboard (Asus P6TD Deluxe, Intel X58) seem's to only allow memory voltage increments at 0.02v, therefore can achieve either 1.64 or 1.66v for Dram voltage. Since intel say anything above the recommended 1.65v is unsafe, is 1.64v going to be enough to support 6GB's of Corsair Dominator GT, DDR3 PC3-16000 (CAS 8) at 2000Mhz ?
Just a bit concerned about that.

Also read the board is missing a floppy connection, (although strangely, pictures of it seem to show it with a floppy connection) how will the Scan Black Floppy Disk & Internal Combo All in 1 Card Reader that scan offer as part of the 3XS Intel X58 Core i7 system be connected up ?

    Thanks, Dave.

Re: Adding to a 3XS Build order?

    Hi Dave,

Looks like I have missed this post, sorry it’s taken me a while.

We can add whatever you like (as long as it works) all our systems are custom built

We won’t run the memory at 1.66 as this can cause problems, All we can do is try the 2000Mhz and if it’s not playing ball get in contact and maybe look at trying 1866. The P6TDs don’t have a floppy connector I will be updating the spec shortly so a floppy drive cannot be selected, I can swap your combo drive to a straight card reader if you like?

    Cheers

ok, thx. I hope the PC3-16000 works, as that would be very nice indeed, but if not, the PC3-14900 will have to be i guess.

    Cheers phill, would appreciate that.

Ok, well all thats left is to run the proposed spec by you. Please let me know what you think, if you think i should change anything.

    3XS Intel X58 Core i7 System.

Case : Antec Twelve Hundred Case
    Motherboard : Asus P6TD Deluxe, Intel X58
    CPU : Intel i7 975 Extreme @ 4.0Ghz + with 20% OC (SCAN 3XS System Core-Logic Overclock)
CPU Coolers : Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H50
    Memory : 6GB (3x2GB) Corsair Dominator GT DDR3 PC3-16000 CAS 8 / or PC3-14900 CAS 7
    Graphics : 2 X 1Gb XFX HD 5870's in Crossfire.
PSU : 1000W Corsair HX Series Modular (Or 850w if possible ?)
    System Drives : 2 X 150 GB Western Digital VelociRaptor 10 000 rpm, in Raid 0 (Strip)
Storage Hard drives: 500 GB Samsung Spinpoint F3 7200 rpm
Scan Black Internal Combo All in 1 Card Reader
Additional: NZXT Sentry 1, LCD, Black Aluminum, Fan & Temperature Controller
    DVD Writer : Sony AD-7240S-0B - 24x DVDRW
    Sound Card : Creative X-Fi Titanium - PCI-E
Case Cooling Fans: 120mm Coolermaster Internal Case Fan with BLUE LED, 2 selected
    OS : Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium - 64bit

Extended Warranty : Wil need to discuss this, as total cost of above system exceeds that of the scan warranty's available.

Also, what is the reliability like with the Hydro Series H50, as i have always been nervous about water solutions, but it is apparently a sealed unit, which should make it alot safer ? I included it as it's probably going to be necessary for the overclock.

    Thanks, Dave.
