    Scan overclocked 1090t

    HI Scan Guys
I am looking at the new AMD 1090T system that you have and I see you have overclocked it to 4 from 3.2, any issues? Is there anywhere that has a comparison of this against a overclocked i7 930?

I will just be using this for gaming and the AMD at £1500 comes right into my price range.

    thanks again

I hope Scan staff don't mind me posting this but according to reviews such as Anandtech x bit labs and Tom's hardware the new chips fair about the same as the phenom 2 965 model in terms of gaming. Most games don't make use of the 6 cores at the moment so if you want the best power for gaming, an i7 may be better for you.

The 6th core would come in handy with applications that CAN use all the core's threads such as video encoding and file compressing. So it's up to you. It's possible that future games may use all six cores and take a bet for the future or get an i7 which has better gaming power for the present.

Not one bit. I'd even be tempted to say that if your just gaming and not doing any encoding or number crunching, then a i5 750 spec running at 4.0 might acturly be the better option. I'm sure one of the gaming guys can show you some bench marks here (or if you can post links parkbham please do) when they come online.
