Problems with parts from 3XS build

    Hello,

I purchased a 3XS system from Scan back in June/July 2007, and have since rebuilt it.

However, when I came to swap the parts used in that build into a new case, I'm having problems getting the system to POST.

I'm using the following parts in a barebones test:

    -Abit IP-35 Pro XE
    -Corsair 2x2GB Dominator 1066 RAM
    -Intel E6600 CPU
    -MSI Hawk 5770
    -Corsair HX620 PSU

No matter which config I use (all installed, nothing except CPU installed etc...), the system will not POST. When I first short the power on pins (with the LCD showing 0.2), the system will come on (lights and fans spinning etc) for a split second, then switch off. The LCD code will be showing as 8.3.

This repeats a few times, then stops. I cannot get it to power on properly whatsoever, even with or without the 8 Pin PSU connector installed.

A major worry is that if the mobo is faulty, I'm on my own as Abit have gone under.

However, looking on the internet, I've found many complaints of the exact same issue when using the Corsair PSU in conjunction with Abit's IP35 line.

How is it Scan got around the issue when the system was first built?

Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

    Many thanks,

    Odai.

    Hi AD-15

Try and reset the Cmos using the small switch on the back while the system is off

The motherboard and Power supply are out of warranty if they are the ones that were originally in the system now and its looking like either the PSU or the motherboard is faulty

You can also take the motherboard battery out and disconnect the power cable at the back, leave the battery out for about 30mins and see if it posts when you put it back in

You may be able to get a bios chip if it is the board as I seem to remember that board has a swappable bios but unless you can get someone at the Hexus Abit Forums to help you will have to check ebay or google it and see if you can obtain one

    Regards

    Ben

Re: Problems with parts from 3XS build

    Hello,

    Thanks for your response Ben.

I've already tried your suggestions, and have even tried leaving the CMOS battery out of the board overnight. Nothing seems to have made a difference.

IIRC, don't the Corsair PSU's have a 5 year warranty?

EDIT: OK, just tried a different board with the Corsair PSU - I get the exact same issue.
