    Problems with my 3XS Triad

My system has been working without any problems since it was purchased in November 2009 but this morning it refused to boot up. The boot screen first indicates that it is unable to find and hard drives and then it states that there is a CPU Fan error. This confuses me as the system is water cooled so their is no CPU fan. Is this likely to be a problem with the water cooled system? I am wondering if it is something as simple as their being no power to the pump that circulates the cooling fluid?

The details of the system are as follows

Re: Problems with my 3XS Triad

    Hi

The system is overclocked and has a bios profile to load restart press del goto Tools-Asus Oc profile and load profile 2 , save and exit bios F10 and it should all be fine.
There is a sticky at top of the page with all other details

    Cheers

    Ben

Re: Problems with my 3XS Triad

    Thanks Ben

That seemed to work except I get some programs saying they cant load because CoreVideo.dll and CoreAudio Toolbox.dll is missing from my computer? The program concerned is Piccasa3 which I use for looking at photos and itunes which is saying it is missing some programs and needs to be reinstalled. This wasn't a problem I ever had before?

Any idea if this is linked to the earlier problem?

Re: Problems with my 3XS Triad

    Ben

Please ignore the last comment nothing whatsoever to do with the computer just an update to itunes and quicktime conflicting with things. Upgrading itunes has solved the problem.

    Many thanks for your help.

It would be interesting though for the future to know what caused the computer to suddenly stop booting up properly?

Re: Problems with my 3XS Triad

    Hi Robin

The most likely cause of the bios resetting is hibernation or sleep, have a look at the top of this page there is a thread for windows 7 and overclocked systems that may help you

Re: Problems with my 3XS Triad

I posted this sometime ago and although the advice from Ben works perfectly I still seem to get this problem particularly if the system has not been used for a while. I was away on holiday for a week and they sysetm was off all that time. Booting up tonight it launched then after about a minute froze and then turned itself off giving this error. Can anyone advise if there is a particular propblem likely to be causing this?

    Thanks

Re: Problems with my 3XS Triad

    Hi Paleviper

Have you tested the memory using Memtest ?

    http://www.memtest.org/#downiso

If you are referring to the original error its possible its the memory or the drive itself, run a chkdsk on the drive and test it with the manufacturers test software

    http://support.wdc.com/product/downl...&sid=3&lang=en

Also as you have an Intel SSD there may be a firmware update , you can download a tool to check this here

    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sear...&FamilyId=3124

If these all pass (we recommend 10 Passes of Memtest) it may be time for a fresh install or Re-image the system with the 3XS Backup we saved with Acronis

    Regards

    Ben
