    Some Advice plz

Hi Everyone just some of you opinions please,

I ordered an asus gts250 from today only, and installed it in my son's PC and got a Beeeeep, Beep Beep, which generally means a video error.

He's been happilly running an 8800GTX until it finally went to the graphics graveyard in the sky, so it shouldnt be a problem with Power or anything else.

So to be 100% sure - i took my 260GTX from my pc and installed it in the offspring's and it worked fine. Installed the GTS250 into my pc, and got the Beeeeeep, Beep, Beep error code.

So being confident that it wasnt me, i returned to scan as Faulty - and then made a decision (as being too old for this - or so the wife tells me) to stop fiddling with those stupid Bl**Dy computers, and just buy a new one, So forking out over £900 quid on a new i5 oc 3xs System with a 5850 Card i was happy (but skint).

Anyway - just got that dreaded email from Scan Yesterday that says the RMA'd card is fine and boots into windows in their test pc.

So there is obviously something wrong at my end? Any idea's what that could be?? the 8800GTX was fine, the GTX260 was fine - but the asus GTS250 just wouldnt work?? I have never head of or experinced anything like that in my veteran pc building experience (been around since scan started back in the days when they were in that creepy looking builidng in the middle of no-where)

Whats' the general policy on "restocking"? the card's less than 6 days old, and the only packet opened in the box is the power connector - as part of my trouble shooting i tried that also.

Do you think i will get hit by a Testing & Restocking charge? Never had to return anything before - so this is a first for me.

If they cannot offer that as an option - anyone want a GTS250 for £60??

Anyway - Any thoughts, advice, support, insults, comments, or whatever else gratefully received!

    Re: Some Advice plz

You tested it on two different computers, and used a different graphics card to see if the systems worked - which they did - that means only 2 things, the graphics card isn’t compatible with your two systems (unlikely) or the graphics card is faulty (very likely).

There is no reason why you should be forced to buy and keep a horse with three legs, especially since its only 6 days old. You have every right to a refund or a replacement.

    Hiya,

Thanks for the very quick reply there :-)

The worry that i have, is that in situations like this where the company tests the card and its seen to be working fine, then they dont tend to give refunds in those circumstances - Cannot speak for Scan though - never had to return anything before today.

    Ill keep my fingers crossed!

    Sorted!

Stuck in the snow in the middle of no-where, armed only with my trusty iphone, trying to email and read the net in an area that had no 3g coverage was proving only slightly less painful than spending christmas at the mother in laws.

Deciding to throw caution to the wind and revert back that archaic form of communication called the "telephone".

Called up the RMA team - who rapidly sorted out the issue and let me know what they could do for me, and all sorted in a matter of minutes :-)

Next time, i may just avoid my hatred of the telephone - sometimes talking to someone is the best option......

    Excellent!

Now just need to find a N adsl router modem that works with Sky Broadband - thats my next purchase......

/waves at Scan - thanks folks much appreciate - when i arrive to collect my 3xs - i may just drop off your first easter egg of the season.......
