Hi Everyone just some of you opinions please,
I ordered an asus gts250 from today only, and installed it in my son's PC and got a Beeeeep, Beep Beep, which generally means a video error.
He's been happilly running an 8800GTX until it finally went to the graphics graveyard in the sky, so it shouldnt be a problem with Power or anything else.
So to be 100% sure - i took my 260GTX from my pc and installed it in the offspring's and it worked fine. Installed the GTS250 into my pc, and got the Beeeeeep, Beep, Beep error code.
So being confident that it wasnt me, i returned to scan as Faulty - and then made a decision (as being too old for this - or so the wife tells me) to stop fiddling with those stupid Bl**Dy computers, and just buy a new one, So forking out over £900 quid on a new i5 oc 3xs System with a 5850 Card i was happy (but skint).
Anyway - just got that dreaded email from Scan Yesterday that says the RMA'd card is fine and boots into windows in their test pc.
So there is obviously something wrong at my end? Any idea's what that could be?? the 8800GTX was fine, the GTX260 was fine - but the asus GTS250 just wouldnt work?? I have never head of or experinced anything like that in my veteran pc building experience (been around since scan started back in the days when they were in that creepy looking builidng in the middle of no-where)
Whats' the general policy on "restocking"? the card's less than 6 days old, and the only packet opened in the box is the power connector - as part of my trouble shooting i tried that also.
Do you think i will get hit by a Testing & Restocking charge? Never had to return anything before - so this is a first for me.
If they cannot offer that as an option - anyone want a GTS250 for £60??
Anyway - Any thoughts, advice, support, insults, comments, or whatever else gratefully received!
