Black screen of.. nothing?

I recently installed the following bits into a custom built PC:

Intel E7600 Core2Duo 3.06 GHz
Asus P5E3 PRO
580W BeQuiet stright BN122 PSU
2G-KIT DDR3 W1600UX2GP PROJECT

I also used a Geforce 8500 that I had previously for graphics.

And they all went together fine, no trouble. Had a few issues getting Windows to install but I blame my install disc for being in poor shape. Once I had Vista installed on the PC, I booted up and installed the chipset disc and let it all run, at the end of the installation it all froze completely so I had to do a hard reset. And now ever since then my computer wont boot, whenever I push the power button it sits with no display on the screen, the fans start to go but it doesn't even check the CD drive, just sits idly spinning the fans.

I have tried using other HDD's, new VGA cables, another monitor, but nothing seems to work.

Has anyone run into similar issues? Thankyou in advance, this is killing my brain!

If you're asking for general advice, this would be better in the main section as we are not normally supposed to reply here.

That said, have you tried resetting the cmos? (via jumper/remove battery)
Make sure you have nothing shorting out between mobo and case.
Check all connections, reseat cpu, ram, cards.
Try to boot with the bare minimum
