Re: Memory Size incorrect on cold boot

Would it be possible to get a copy of the BIOS? I have been fighting this board for weeks now, and I am willing to try anything. RMA and different memory is not helping. Thanks.

Re: Memory Size incorrect on cold boot

I can send you the bios's that PeteG@scan sent me but I am not sure they will help, if you pm me your email address I will send them.
Just note that I am just passing on what I have been sent and these are beta's so it is use at your own risk.

    Update

Tue 14th - installed the last official bios 0403, booted to F8 menu, powered off and reset cmos, rebooted and setup bios, loaded windows fine, used machine fine.

Followed same pattern as previous week and have had zero problems other than memory detection size on boot, no errors, no bluescreen, no random reboots, no corrupt programs, all startup items working.
Machine has detected 6gb on first boot, out of the last 6 days only twice has it detected 4gb on first boot and shutdown and restart has cured that.

So it seems to be a bios issue that causes memory issues.

Re: Memory Size incorrect on cold boot

    hi everybody,
I have the same problem with my motherboard ASUS P6X58D-E (bios 0403) and my memories CORSAIR TR3X6G1600C9
I wrote to corsair support but they didn't know how to resolve my problem, except to say me to fill RMA form and to send them my memories

Every day I swtich on my PC, first time I post says I have only 2 or 4 GB of RAM, so I need to press PAUSE button, keep in pause for 10 seconds, switch off and after switch on again and then PC can find all 6 GB of memories.

It's like when the CPU or the RAM are "warm" they can work together

hope that someone from ASUS or CORSAIR will find solution and fix such problem

    (sorry for my English)

What parts have you replaced? CPU? RAM? MOBO? It has to be 1 of these 3 things.

Re: Memory Size incorrect on cold boot

    Hi

Just over a week ago I checked the Asus support site and found another new bios, 0602 release 21.04.11, the release notes state "Add Memory Recheck feature".

I have installed this bios and it seems to have cured the problem, what happens sometimes when cold booting is that my machine will power on for about 5 seconds, power off then power back on.

I assume this is the Memory Recheck feature, anyway I get 6Gb on all boots and restarts now so It looks like this bios has fixed it for me.

Re: Memory Size incorrect on cold boot

Just an update for anyone interested, I have noticed that about 90%+ of the time when cold booting my machine will power on for the 5 sec then power off and back on.

Still get 6Gb and no other problems have occurred, not really an issue just something to note.

Re: Memory Size incorrect on cold boot

Can I just say thanks for this post, I have a scan pc but my brother has a cyberpower pc and this mobo has caused him nothing but problems, I told him to look on the scan forum. It's not surprising that scan are aware of the issue, you would expect someone selling these motherboards to have an idea about why this memory issue was happening. He couldn't get the answers he wanted elsewhere including cyberpower. I think he will buy from scan next time.
