Those scratches are exactly as the item was received at Scan and noted on the RMA immediately during the visual inspection stage, I'll try and arrange for the image to be uploaded.
Are you sure it's the same card?

I get the feeling I'm wasting my time here, I'm telling you there was no damage to the card. It would be pointless trying to return a card in that condition.

Given how well packaged the item was I don't understand where damage could come from, posting a picture is not going to give me any answers to that.

So instead of requested refund I get a damaged card back for my trouble?, this is great.

I can't see the image atm, not that it matters as again there was no damage when the item was sent.

I'll have a look when I finish work, just to see what you guys are going to be sending back to me.

Does it at least still work?

So what's happening now? is the card being returned to me?

I can confirm I have requested for the card to be returned to yourself.

Understood, I'm still puzzled by how any damage was done to the card during transit, the box was around three times the size of the item with allot of packing, plus the box itself was pretty small so there was virually no room for the card to move around.

To be honest I'm very suspicious and don't trust your word that it arrived damaged at all but don't see what I can do about it.

I still havent seen the image and won't until get home.

Trust me, I've had as many problems with Scan as the next man (probably more), but the suggestion that they purposefully scratched a card to avoid having to refund it is a bit bizarre.

Restocking costs etc might have cost them £40 or something, which is a drop in the ocean compared to their revenue I suspect. They'd have to be insane to do something like that for such a paltry sum, and I don't think they're that deceitful either.

In the future, I would advise taking photos at every stage to use as proof if necessary - I do that now with any RMA items just in case - I've had items seriously damaged in transit between me and Scan on a couple of occasions, and photos can be very useful.

Probably a good idea but I've never needed to do this before and I've returned allot of stuff over the years, it's funny OCUK get allot of bad rep but not once have I had any problems returning items to them and in return I’ve spent allot of money with them over the years.

Yet I have these kinds of problems with Scan, this isn’t the first time either so in hindsight I should have known better than to use them in the first place.

If you could see how this was packed you would be a little sceptical as well, It cost £20 to send it due to the extra packaging, I’ve still not seen the card so have no idea how bad these "scratches" are, I just hope the card still works so I can sell it on.

Looks like the shroud for the cooler (the part that's scratched) should have a sticker on it but that someone has removed it to me...

The sticker is black, but I’d like to see an image zoomed out a little as I definitely didn't remove the sticker, what would be the point?

There was definitely no damage like that when it was packed, the card was placed in the static bag and in the compartment in the box and then packaged up, the box itself was small so there was really no room for any movement inside the package, with all the extra packing that damage just isn’t possible.

I don't see how that kind of damage can come from anything inside the box itself so I still think Scan are to blame, but I've got no proof.

This is what the sticker looks like.

EDIT: The more I look at it the more it looks like the sticker was removed, since I know for sure I never removed it and that obviously can't happen in transit, it's either a mix up with the wrong card or they are intentionally misleading me to avoid giving out a refund.

    But what can I do?

Re: Item returned as UNWANTED, Rejected?

Things can move inside the packaging quite a lot, its surprising, but as you say highly unlikely a sticker can come off!

One time I had someone (not Scan) send me 3 hard drives, used a box and wrapped the drives inside round and round with bubblewrap.
You would think thats great, but the 3 drives were stacked one on top the other with NOTHING in between them, so the pcb above scratching the heck out of the next drive top surface....
By pure luck they all work fine, but that person probably thought he had done a wonderful job using so much wrap and a box, just goes to show effective packaging isnt always how much padding you use but where/how you pad it also!

Well I agree that's poor but not really comparable, the card is inside an anti static bag in its own compartment,

The only items I can think of that could be in contact with this “bag” is a manual or driver disc still in its sleeve, how are they going to do any damage? Nevermind remove the sticker.

Impossible would be more like it, just look at the scratches in the picture they took.

The image you have taken from the PNY website isn't representative of the stock we received, have in or have been shipping out, which is without a sticker, therefore a sticker hasn't come off or been removed as it was never there.

We have also confirmed through the serial number's that the card shipped out is the same card received back.

    Best Regards

Well obviously I'll check that when I receive it, I only had the card a few days it's kind of hard to remember exactly what the sticker looks like.

So when will I be receiving this damaged card?

"bump" I will need to know when I can expect delivery of this as I need to arrange somebody to be there because I won't.
