Western Digital 80GB - SMART Tripped

    Hi There,

Bought a WD800AAJB disk in May.

The BIOS reports that the SMART has tripped. Initially I was able to view the disk contents and was able to do a disk check which reportedly fixed bad sectors however, now the drive can be seen but it doesnt believe its a formatted disk any longer, when I try to format it fails almost immediately.

As it has failed in less than a year, where do I send it back to get a replacement?

    Thanks,

In your case Scan would be the first point of call, raise a RMA on their online system. The retailer is actually responsible for the product for 6 years but most will normally only look after it for 1year then it defaults to the manufacturers warranty after that.
