    Angry Scan Stocking Issues...

I came to Scan over eBuyer due to recommendation.

Your prices are very competetive, however the delivery charge to Northern Ireland is very steep (eBuyer do not have the same surplus charges, after all it is still the UK!)

But my MAIN problem is the stock issues...

After the payment was received, you took a day to tell me that the CPU e4400 was out of stock, when it showed "In Stock" on your website, and also that the Corsair TwinX 1gb Ram was out of stock.

I then called to discuss, to find out that the e4400 WAS in stock, and the RAM could be changed to 2 x 512mb instead.

So delayed by one day already, I get confirmation of the change to order and estimate dispatch by 02/05/07.

Then on the 03/05/07 I get another e-mail saying that the Arctic Cooler Pro 7 is out of stock, when it was in stock previously.

So I phoned and was told my options were hold the entire order until they come back in stock (!) or remove it from the order and re-order again when back in stock - but have to pay the excess delivery charge to NI!

So my complaint is when you start to pick an order, these parts should be reserved if something else is out of stock. As by the time one issue is resolved you are out of stock of something else!!!

I must say after buying online for many years now, this is the most frustrating experience to date...

I have reluctantly changed my order to a "Scythe 'Samurai Z'" which I have no idea how well it performs compared to the Arctic Cooler...

And even now I am not convinced that my parts will be here for the weekend (over a week of delay)

So come on scan convince me that you aren't that bad after all, because after this episode, I am unlikey to use you in the future!!!

    (Even refund the delivery charges?)

... quick replies from both Paul & Chris, saying that the issue will be resolved today, and an Arctic Cooler Pro 7 will be sent onwards as soon as it comes into stock.

As long as I have enough bits to make the PC by the weekend, then I will be a happy chappy!

    Cheers guys...

A similar thing happened to me but I'm fairly laid back. Everytime something went out of stock I just ordered it from eBuyer (cos I had an order with them anyway for the RAM).

Think in the end I ended up with 65% of the goods from scan and 35% from ebuyer. I may have tried someone else for something but they were out of stock and I've never used them again. Something no name.

I think scan has the best CS bar none though.

I guess I would normally be laid back, but in this instance

    1) This is is my first self-build,
    2) My PC is moving out this weekend to a new home, and I would be without if there was a further delays
    3) We are expecting a baby in the next few weeks, and once he or she comes along, there will be no hope for me tinkering with PC parts...

(I hear Scan don't RMA parts with baby sick on?)

Well, the quick response seems to have been followed up with an Invoice being raised stage 3 of 4...

So looks like the guys on here are the ones to speak to (not the call centre)...

And with speed of resolution, it does seem that the CS is excellent.

When I get all the parts, I will rave some more !!

In my experience I've had no problems with the call centre - but it is different for everyone. Unfortuantely scan do get bad press for their shipping but it's swings and roundabouts really. Recently I complained because I think an order slipped through the net and the guy I spoke to got it dispatched within about an hour or two of me mentioning it.

When you get enough posts on hexus, you get free shipping anyway .

I genuinely think scan are understaffed possibly, they struggle to deal with backlogs of orders around christmas / bank holidays etc. A victim of their own success I should say, they've recently had to expand their warehouse into another building because they needed more space to fill all the orders they were getting!

Congrats (and commiserations on the pc front ) on the baby

    Grrrr...

Just been informed that as I am in Northern Ireland they will NOT forward the AC Pro 7 FOC!!!!!!

Offered an alternative cooler, which was not as well reviewed, so have had to cancel the AC Pro 7 altogether.

I will have to go to eBuyer, who don't charge a high premium for delivery to NI.

So far my penalty for living in NI is a £30 delivery charge, and no free delivery when parts are O/O/S.

It does seem that the rest of my stuff has been shipped though, and luckily the E4400 retail has a stock cooler, that will do to start with...

Fingers crossed it arrives tomorrow as promised

Don't blame scan for the delivery charges, blame city link. Although I think eBuyer use them as well...?

I don't blame Scan for the delivery charges with City Link, but it would make sense for them to use another courier for the substantial NI market.

And especially when the parts I ordered were in stock when I ordered them, I shouldn't have to pay TWICE for delivery even if I lived in England, let alone NI.

I just brought a graphics card from eBuyer, and there was no excess delivery surcharge.

(But Aria do - although i'd never use them!!!)

BARGAIN! If i'd known about the ACpro7 I would have added it to the order at the same time (!)

For the record, although our Free Carriage offer does not extend to NI - we do offer a slightly reduced rate for Hexus NI based members....

If you qualify (ie - more than 25 posts, and contributing regularly) next time - ring the sales team and they can look after you on this.

Your order has been shipped, I am sorry but we can not brunt the cost of shipping to N Ireland as this would be like giving the cooler for free. The cooler was out of stock when you ordered and you would of received an e-mail on ordering to confirm this.

All the items you have mentioned which were out of stock was replenished within 24hrs apart from the cooler hence when you rang you was told that they were, this is due to high volume of popular items and these can be replaced quickly due to the speed they leave the shelf.

I hope you source your cooler hopefully you will not have to wait long
