New build problem

Hey guys,

I bought a barebones asus system from you guys a week or 2 ago with a cpu ram and hard disk

Put it all together and it seemed to work ok for a bout a week.

THen last friday my mum came to turn on the pc and it doesnt seemt o want to post.

I`ve unplugged the ram and I get beeps so It seems like its trying to work. Theres just nothing coming up on screen.

Ive tried a known working PSU and graphics card to see if thats the problem but still its not working.

THe parts I bought were a

ASus V seried barebones system, an AMD x2 CPU and corsair value ram.

At the moment the only things plugged into the board are the vga cable for the monitor and the keyboard.

WHen the case is switched on the KEyboard lights come on but then thats about it.

ANy ideas what could be wrong. I dont have spare AM2 CPU or DDR2 ram to try so Im in a bit of a pickle and live quite a way from the shop so want to rule everything out before bringing it back

Its either going to be the Barebones CPU or Memory and as you don’t have a spare to test either one of the above I would suggest returning the parts back into the store,

Edit - You have tried disconnecting all none essential hardware such as HDD, Optical Drive or any PCI cards you may have connected?

Aye all that is plugged in is the ram cpu and cooler.


looks like I`ll have to make a trip down to the store next week then

I'm assuming you alreading have but sometimes just reseating the CPU can help in situations like this.

Yeah. CPU has been removed and checked the pins are all looking ok.

Im gonna bring the system down later today and Just want to check whether I need to bring all the packaging for everything or just the barebones system with cpu and ram in it?

You should be ok just bringing the equipment down but with it raining it would not harm it being brought in the original box.

Great service again

Went in to the store this afternoon opened the pc and the blokey in the repairs room unplugged the ram and put a new stick in.

Wrote up a receipt and I was out the place within 20 minutes with a new stick of working rm and the pc is now setup and my mum is happy

Excellent Raz downstairs is good at his job they have even called him Mr Cool in the past. Glad you have a working Pc!
