    9800 on Scan's website

    Ohhhhh. I spy a 9800GX2 on Scan's website. I can't stop dribbling.
Anyone tried one of these? This must be a Crysis killer.

I'd love to get hold of one of these, they are pretty expensive though. There are a few reviews already sitting on the web. Google is your friend!

yeah, there is a lot of reviews on the web but some places don't like to show Crysis reviews because the results vary sooo much even though they do the same things.

i can see it doing very well though tbh.
    i can game with everything on very-high on Crysis with an 8800GT (overclocked to 730 / 1825 / 2050)
    at around 15 - 20 FPS
this is at 1280 x 1024 mind you.
    not a high resolution.

    Re: 9800 on Scan's website

    Unfortunatley Crysis kills this card.

Check out the reviews on Guru3d & Driverheaven. The 9800gx2 beats the hd3870 x2 + 8800 ultra at every game by a healthy margin, except Crysis.

This card offers vitually no improvement in Crysis over the last generation of cards.
It a shame cos its really the only game on top end 8800 series card can't max out, with the 9800gx2 you won't either.

    Is it worth it ?

Its a decent card but i SERIOUSLY doubt its a Crysis killer.

There wont be one of those for a while yet.

I should hope it would do very well for the £400 price tag.
I would want it to make the tea and hoover while im in work for that kind of cash.

The difference in performance over the 8800series cards is certainly not £400 worth.

    Very disappointing tbh.

I've heard that it gives you just below double of the performance of any of g-card

its a beast... but an expensive beast which i will stay away from for a while... 9600gt will do me fine.

I've just finished digesting the reviews on Techreport (very good) and Driverheaven again.

This card gives almost identical performance to SLI 8800gts (obviuosly cos thats all it is).
Therefor SLI Ultras & SLI GTS (g92) is clearly faster - however that'll cost abit !!!!

Interestingly the 9800GX2 seems to stumble a little at higher resoluions and with higher AA & AF filtering (particulary check out Crysis benchmark on Techreport review).

Still it seems to own just about every other benchmark !!!!!!!!

    I doubt that very much.
Especially if the benchmarks of the 9800GX2 are anything to go by.

    Re: 9800 on Scan's website

Sit tight, this is just NV getting rid of their excess G92 cores. Waste of money if you've got an 8 series card already, it's nothing new it's just the "latest" SKU in an oversold and crowded product line up.

Bring on the competition from AMD to get NVidia back on track, the difference between the 8800GTS 320/640, 8800 GT 256/512, 8800GTS 512 and 8800GTX has been laughable at best and didn't warrant so many SKUs in my mind.

    Re: 9800 on Scan's website

its cheaper too buy 2x 8800GTS and you should in theory get a better result as you get higher clocked ones and its £170 for a gts(starting price i believe) so 2x170=340 and the 9800X2=£380+, atleast amd got their card pricing right, its slightly cheaper/same to buy 3870X2 compared to 2x 3870's.

or 3x 9600=beaten? with 2 9600's beating an 8800GTS(just) then 3 would compare to this and be much cheaper.
