Philips SRM5100/00 4in1 Microsoft Vista MCE Remote & Receiver

    Hi Scan peeps,

I am after this remote but I would like to use it in XP.

    Quote from Scan's product page:
"This remote control will work with MCE2005 via the original MCE remote's receiver. There are no drivers for the supplied receiver to work with MCE2005 so you need the original remote's receiver. I have read that the drivers for the receiver are built in to Vista and it works with the supplied receiver. Vista = use supplied receiver. MCE2005 = need the receiver that came with the original remote."

My question is will the IR receiver (which is XP compatible) that comes with this work which the other remote?

    cheers guys

i dont think it will. I have bought a few mce remotes over the years to find the best one. to be honest I much prefered the standard remote Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK to the philips one as it is backlit and has a really nice feel to it. The original MCE one has programable tv on/off and volume so you have basic control of your tv / amp.

In the end i have gone for the Logitech xbox remote which is brilliant (https://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/g...s/375&cl=us,en). Got it off ebay for £25 a few weeks ago. They pop up every now again. You could use any reciever with that one.

I would imagine it would be compatible with the receiver but again I can not guarantee this.

Yeah I tried loads but the MS one is dead simple and nicely laid out so i stuck with that.

I think I will take the safe option... I will order the MCE remote tonight. Its only £8 more than the cheap one... so I can always go for the Phillips on in the future if I want... Cheers guys.
