Could I swap a motherboard with Scan??

I've recently taken delivery of a DFI X48 motherboard and its not what I'm after. The item was delievered Wednesday just gone (the 5th I think it was...)

Is there anyway I could swap it for another motherboard that is in stock or is this not possible??

    Many thanks

Re: Could I swap a motherboard with Scan??

I think that's an option seeing though you are in the DSR period. Either that or your money back to purchase whatever you like which is basically the same.

Best to wait until monday for a scan employee to confirm.

Re: Could I swap a motherboard with Scan??

If you write/email them (has to be done in writing) within 7 days of receiving the item, requesting a refund under DSR they'll give you your money back. Or I'm sure you could ask for a different mobo instead, but if you're asking for a more expensive mobo, you will have to pay the extra cost.

Re: Could I swap a motherboard with Scan??

That would be fantastic if I could swap it out, but my only question is what should I swap it out with??

I might have stated this in other threads but currently my Gigabyte P35 DS4 motherboard is making me very happy at the moment!!

Re: Could I swap a motherboard with Scan??

I have the Gigabyte GA-X38-DS5 and if I wasn't using it I would create a throne room for it

I absolutely love my Gigabyte board. I'm not too sure why you want an X48 but tbh the P35 is perfectly suited for anything you could need right now. Only reason I went for the X38 was for the PCI-E 2.0 but it really doesn't make a difference and looking back now I should of gotten the GA-P35-DQ6 instead.

I'd get this instead of the X48 board> Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

Re: Could I swap a motherboard with Scan??

I was considering going for a Crossfire setup with the new 4870 cards that are coming out from ATI/AMD (whatever they are called!!) as I've tried SLI with an Nvidia 780i board and was unimpressed with the motherboards capabilities.

If anything I'd prefer a X38 board if its going to give me no limitations for Crossfire. Thank you very much for the advise I've just sent scan the message that I'm going to save and hopefully hear back from them by tomorrow evening sometime Awaiting on OLQ605792 to be replied too

Re: Could I swap a motherboard with Scan??

I managed to snap up one of a few Gigabyte X38's, seems scan aren't selling any more gigabyte X38's and they are equally scarce elsewhere. Not sure why because my motherboard is amazing!

If you want the extra PCI-E lanes then I'd recommend this board> Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

Re: Could I swap a motherboard with Scan??

I'm a bit warey of Abit boards as I've had some before and they've not been as good as they used to be. I remember having some NF7-S Rev 2 boards which I would still recommend to people now if they wanted a Socket A board..

I might hold out for the P45 boards in that case as I hear they are meant to be a step ahead of the P35 boards and this is a good thing I do see the Gigabyte one already for pre ordering... Might it be a sign??

It does look a very nice board to me

Re: Could I swap a motherboard with Scan??

Im pretty sure under the DSR you would have to take a refund as they dont do swap outs (unless things have changed).

I also dont think the P45's are going to be any better than the P35 or the X38's. Its all the sameness at the moment besides the FSB.

I would stick with the X48 tbh as it will be a better board than the P45's.

Re: Could I swap a motherboard with Scan??

I think with the P45 it has a new north bridge chipset which would have its advantages with more PCI-E 2.0 lanes being able to be routed through it. Other than the new north bridge I don't think it has much extra to offer and an X38/X48 would be better value.

All the Gigabyte boards look sexy to me

Legally, that's quite right. There's no swap option as it's a cancel the contract right. Administratively, though, it may be that a retailer would (at the buyer's request) raise a credit and apply it against a new order - which isn't quite a refund, but would amount to a swap. Or it may be that they wouldn't. I can't see why they couldn't from the DSR perspective, but administratively, they may or may not want to do it that way.

They don't do credit in this way. you send back this MB on your cost, and you have to place new order and pay for it. In meantime your refund should be sorted and it should take 5-10 days if Im right.
I did very similar thing, now just waiting for refund.

Absolutely, but wouldn't it make things easier for 'Scans family' if they ( Scan ) stepped up ( outside of what's required [ I have a lot of Asian friends who are businessmen and they love to please their customers by offering something they don't have to ]) and offered one chance, to exchange and pay more for an alternative?

If only just to speed things up for their 'enthusiast' customers?
