Asus P5K-e and Zalman CNPS9700 NT...

    Hey guys.

Since im going to be getting my stuff from scan, i thought i may as well post here.

I am going to be getting this motherboard, along with the Q6600. Im after an aftermarket cooler, and i have a 9500 NT AM2 atm, and im considering sticking with Zalman, but moving up a size bracket to the 9700 NT:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductID=615971

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=505971

Im wondering, the cooler i have atm is a decent weight, and is smaller than the 9700. Im wondering if it will be safe to go for the 9700 on the motherboard im getting. Its not going to break anything will it, or rip the motherboard apart or destroy the CPU?

    Just wanting reassurance.

    Thanks

    Ian

motherboards are designed to be able to take some stick. so a heavy cooler is fine....

my asus crosshair has the a 1kg-ish cooler+2 fans sitting on it (and i just chuck the case around sometimes , so it takes a bit of stick)
