Hi guys,
Firstly apologies if I am mis-using this forum with this question, but i'd just like to get an idea if it is worth me filing an RMA request with this issue, as i'm not certain if this falls within your policies.
I purchased an Asus Xonar D2X Ultra Fidelity 7.1 PCI-E Sound Card from you last week, and have today finally put the card into my computer (a stock Mac Pro, nothing modified) and loaded the drivers.
The problem is that I cannot get audio working correctly with Vista, despite the fact that this card is advertised as being Vista compatible and as having features enabling openAL etc to work correctly. The sound output of the card through optical out is almost always 'crackly', to various degrees, unless you are playing a DVD or similar with a DD or DTS encoded audio track. Everything else (MP3s, windows sounds etc) crackles.
The card has the correct power cable attached, and I have tried a number of things, including: Complete re-install, different cables, different PCI-E socket, different drivers versions, and every combination of possible settings in the audio configuration window.
My concern is that this may be a problem related to my software setup or the cards drivers, and not a physical hardware issue, and as such i'm a little worried that if I send it back you will test the hardware and it will work fine, so my RMA would be denied. Ideally I would like to get a refund and purchase a different card that doesn't have these problems.
From what I have said, would I qualify for an RMA with this card? (the box/contents are all present and in immaculate condition)
