RE: warranty "return to Scan subject to manufacturer's warranty"

    Hi,

I was looking at some of the products on scan, and in the warranty section of the 520W Corsair HX it states

5 Year warranty, return to Scan subject to manufacturer's warranty.
Does this mean that any time in the warranty period of 5 years we just send it back to Scan for the RMA?

    Thanks

afaik, it means that scan is the one who has to take in your returned PSU, but it is subject to Corsairs RMA policy, not scans. It will still end up with corsair at the end of the day anyway. Company usually do this as its a lot less hassle for them. The MF will only step in when a retailer refuses to, or no longer exists.

Re: warranty "return to Scan subject to manufacturer's warranty"

As far as I know, it's more or less what Alex said.

Scan operate the warranty on Corsair's behalf, but it's subject to the terms and limitations of Corsair's warranty - in other words, Scan aren't offering you a 5-year Scan warranty, but to administer the 5-year Corsair one.

It may be, for instance, that Scan and Corsair have agreed that Scan do initial testing and are authorised to replace PSUs returned under certain conditions. If so, and if those conditions are met, it'll take a load off Corsair, and speed up the service to us, as customers. But there may also be limits on that, and under certain circumstances, the decision to repair/replace may need to come from Corsair.

That's certainly the type of deal that gets done, but what Scan and Corsair have in place, I've no idea. It may just be to save customers the cost and delay of international shipping ..... which might be enough to persuade some customers to buy a PSU brand that didn't involve shipping faulty product to the US (or wherever), and that would present a good reason for Corsair to do something like this.

corsairs 'UK RMA' procedure is based in the netherlands...

so shipping costs £22 for a PSU...

so it's a good job you can send it to SCAN TBH

Re: warranty "return to Scan subject to manufacturer's warranty"

Thanks alexp999, Saracen, Hicks12 and TAKTAK.

So if the psu fails I would just ship to Scan, this is a very big plus and is probably going to sway me into buying some stuff from scan for my new pc.

    Cheers
