Received damaged box, EVGA step up concern

Wondering if anyone can advise me what to do here.

I received my EVGA GTX 260 SSC 55nm with free 2Gb MP4 player yesterday (today only offer).

However I was a little dissapointed to see the packaging was not up to the usual high standard.
The products were bundled 'loosely' in bubble wrap, and completly exposed at either end (in terms of bubble wrap protection), they were inside a city link bag as final layer of packaging. The EVGA box shows signs of damage on it.

My concern is that in the future I want to do the EVGA step-up program and if my box is damaged I won't be able to.
The products are still unopened in shrink wrap and these pics are taken in exaclty the condition as I received the goods (note the shirnk wrap on the MP4 playter is torn anyway = how I received it)

I've uploaded some pics to see what you think

I'm not really fussed about the state of the box myself - I just don't want it to effect the step-up in the future.

What do you guys think ?

You should email EVGA about the boxes. They aren't as fussy as XFX so you really won't have a problem I bet. The packaging has been a bit minimal from Scan lately. My PSU arrived covered in that City Link bag, which is just like a thick bin bag liner. That twice I got it like that so you're not the only one.

All EVGA seem to say is...

Q: Do I need to keep my original box?
A: Yes, you will need to keep all of the original packaging and materials that came with your video card the day you purchased it. If you have lost or damaged any of these items, or if you fail to return them with your card, The original product will be returned to the customer.

    But also:..

Q: What is an eligible card?
A: Card must be returned with all original materials and packaging.
A: Please make sure that the card is professionally packed and secured before shipping back to EVGA
A: Card must be in working order and free of cosmetic and physical defects.

But nothing that specifically says that the original packaging must be in the original condition? - I personally do not think that the condition of the original packaging should be relevant as long as the card is returned in full working order, however I would suggest contacting EVGA and then me by reply if EVGA confirm that you would have an issue returning the card.

    Best Regards

Re: Received damaged box, EVGA step up concern

Well i've sent them an e-mail to the general cust support and i'll have to wait and see the response, could be a while.

There is no Uk support tel no for EVGA
I can't start a thread in their support forums yet or get direct support because I haven't registered the card.
I can't register the card as i ned to open the box to get serial no.
    I can't open the box otherwise I can't return it for refund/replacement.

Quite annoying the whole situation really as I want to install the card today.

All because someone couldn't take a few seconds to properly wrap the card up.

    ah well, ces't la vie

I will come back to you later today.

Re: Received damaged box, EVGA step up concern

Lee just called me back and good news.

The current condition of your packaging is not relevant and will not affect you if you use the step up program.

You can safely open, register and install the card.

    Best Regards
