    RMA Question for Corsair Memory

    Hi SCAN.

I purchased some RAM from you nearly 2 years ago now (where the hell does time go?), and it was a set of Dominator DDR2 8500, cost £250 back then, crazy price. Anyway the warranty states it's lifetime, but can I send it to you guys (back to base) instead of Corsair itself? Or how does it work?

    The memory is definitely dead.

    TIA

Re: RMA Question for Corsair Memory

Will be sending the memory off tomorrow.

Thanks for the emails regarding changing the address! Totally forgot about that!

If sent First Class, when can I expect the new memory to be with me? (It's my work PC)

    Thanks

Re: RMA Question for Corsair Memory

Sent earlier on to your place first class recorded, so should be with you tomorrow.

A bit silly of me but I should tell you exactly what the problem is apart from them not working. They have been stable since I bought them and my PC was built, never had any problems with them until my PC started to not boot up and gave the C1 error every single time. I have reset the CMOS, removed battery, have gone through the Dominator tut which tells you exactly what to do after a C1 error with the memory modules but it didn't work (and suggests you should RMA if it doesn't work), so have tried everything possible my side. I have tried both sticks in every combination possible, single stick, dual stick etc, but everytime it's C1. I then took the PC to a freind who helped build the PC (he is qualified), and he checked everything over for me and he stated the RAM is totally dead in his PC too, again both sticks.

We tried his memory in my PC and it booted straight away, which suggested that every other componant in my PC is working fine.

Quite annoying really as it is my work PC at the moment, but that's what the lifetime warranty is for I guess.

Re: RMA Question for Corsair Memory

    Update,

Ok, I got an email back stating no fault had been found on the memory, which I found very odd, so it did ask to ring SCAN up which I did.

The guy said it's been tested on an AMD and Intel motherboards and worked fine...

(The memory has been tested in 3 different motherboards my end, 2 Intel 1 AMD, all three would not boot)

He said it will be tested on Memtest tomorrow to find any faults, but I find it unbelievable that the RAM boots in your end on 2 mobos and does not boot on 3 mobos here.

Will wait for tomorrow to see what the results come back as, one thing that has been suggested is that it's been in the very cold storage places over the night which has revived the memory back for a short space of time.

Quick testing though I have to say.

    Update

Just checked my RMA page and memtest has failed with the RAM. Goods news, this has been stressing me out a little!

Thanks for the service once again SCAN.

Re: RMA Question for Corsair Memory

    Hi SCAN,

Received the memory today (quick delivery), opened up the package and tried the memory, it seems one stick is dead (can't believe my luck), I am trying everything I can at the moment to check if it is 100% dead, but it looks like it is. Only one stick will work in the PC.

Another pointer, on the RAM plastic case, there is a crack on the bottom of the packet, I will post a picture of it, it's like someone has dropped it on a hard surface.

Again, I am gutted, and I don't think it's your fault, would really like this PC to be up and running 100% but lady luck is really not on my side...

Re: RMA Question for Corsair Memory

Been testing the RAM for a fair few hours and the stick is dead.

Just been on the phone and got issued a RMA number, the chap on the phone was very helpful and patient.
