    Scan Nvidia 8800GTX 768MB OEM = BSOD

At least I think i've narrowed it down to that graphics card. I bought it back in Jun 07 and have loved its performance for quite some time. However recently my computer has started locking up and outright crashing with practically every blue screen imaginable from Driver Irql Not Less Or Equal through to win32.sys page_fault_in_nonpaged_area and beyond.

Within the past few days the screens attached to it has started showing odd patterns. Herringbone, like it's trying to draw a narrower image on a wider screen. The secondary output has no image at all. On booting though the BIOS and POST screens the characters are all jumbled.

There were no hardware alterations made prior to the onset of these problems.
The drivers have always been kept as up to date as possible barring the use of betas.
I've not bothered overclocking it as i was more than happy with its performance up to then.
I've left the ram running a memory test for over 48 hours with no problems.
As of removing this primary card the system has been running off of a secondary 256MB PALIT 8400GS PCI-E (also from Scan) without issue, if somewhat less enthusiastically.

So are there any other ways to verify this card being at fault?
How long is the default warranty for hardware of this nature from Scan?
Since there's no obvious way on the website, how do I go about setting up an RMA?

    Cheers

    I think?

OEM? I thought was typically a year. Might depend on brand to brand though.

Well, if your PC runs with another GPU fine then there is a high possibility it is the GPU.

Test it in another computerto check 100%.

It's a Scan [i]brand[i] though so am not sure. I'll post a query there though thanks.

Unfortunately my only other computer is an older AGP equipped motherboard so I can't test it.

What PSU do you have? The problems you're experiencing could be due to a power supply on its way out and it can't provide enough power to your card and causing general system instability.

Re: Scan Nvidia 8800GTX 768MB OEM = BSOD

I have a silverstonetek.com/products/p_contents.php?pno=da650&area=usa. It's not making any noises. I've tried switching the PCI-E cables but if it's internal then there's no way to know.

How could I test the PSU? or would i just need to try a new one and see if the problem clears up?

If it's the symptoms dagwood describes then another powerful card that you know should be working will give similiar errors. So try another 8800GTX if you have or a mates one etc. I'm betting it's the GPU though. Try the GPU in another system if you can to rule out if it's the GPU or not.
