how long does it take to get an invoice?

I ordered £360 worth of items from Scan today, I got to the page that includes my invoice number but I didn't not recieve an email confirming the order, the order does not show up in my orders section and when I put the invoice number into the parcel tracking it says nothing. I've ordered things from 3 other websites today too and they all sent me an invoice within mintues, so I'm not sure if it's a bank holiday issue or not? I really need the items by wednesday but don't want to place another order and be charged twice.

Re: how long does it take to get an invoice?

It's one of the things that irks about Scan, there isn't any confirmation emails when the office is closed. I can appreciate that the order isn't processed until someone is in the office, but even an automated email telling you that yes you did place an order and it will be processed once the office is open again would be nice.

This, thats actually a good suggestion, just sometihng to let you know that your order went through.

Online retailers do have to be careful what they put in order acknowledgements, until or unless they've been reviewed, because if they don't, it may be that they end up committed to supply, based on a mistake in, for instance, pricing.

I have no idea what system Scan use, but it may be that they run an eye over orders before confirming them, to avoid the mess that some e-tailers have got into, including Argos with the famous £3 TV and Kodak with the digital camera. If so, any such order conformation will only be that it's been received, not that it;s been accepted or processed. On the other hand, maybe Scan don't do it that way. But they do have to be careful.

There are plenty of etailers that do this though. They send you an email stating that they aknowledge that you have placed an order, but it is yet to be validated/authorised/etc.

This comes up with scan quite regularly, people wondering if they have actually placed an order or not.

Re: how long does it take to get an invoice?

I just received an email with a copy of the order in it which is good. Whilst I understand the reasons for maybe not wanting to confirm it automatically, an acknowledgement that the order has been at least received would be good. I wasn't sure if I should have ordered again or not.

    The email I received states
This email does not constitute an order until payment has been received.
which is fine, I just think it could have been sent a little sooner.

    Thanks for everyone's replies.
